Ignoring that this iteration of the console wars has become just plain ridiculous, there's just too much indication that next gen will be nothing but cloud gaming. With devs and publishers selling 50 and $60 users licenses to game that they'll have to be online to play.

never! even my career was chosen based on gaming. I will never stop gaming, I enjoy it so why stop something I enjoy?

I think most games this gen is boring, to much focus on online. The only games I play now is old games like Ocarina of Time and all the Resident Evil games. I'm also playing through some games I have never played, like Final Fantasy VII and VIII.
There is a few games I'm interested in though, Final Fantasy XIII, FFXIII Versus and a few horror games on Wii like Silent Hill remake, The Grudge, The Calling, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles and Cursed Mountain.

i stopped gaming for a long when i was in west africa. prob for about 4 or 5 years. came back to the uk, my bro wanted and xbox so i bought him one to send over to africa.

before i sent it i thought i would test it and make sure it was all working. I poped in halo CE and that was it. My gaming youth was reborne. till this day i still have not played a campaign fps that has totally matched the experience and its still my no 1 fps. The only other game that blew me away anywhere near close enough was half life 2.

Whenever I have stopped gaming it's been because other things in my life end up taking my free time.

i stopped gaming for like 2yrs to work on school and job...i really dont think much about gaming...but i started playing a lot of games after a lot of good games came out, but now im kinda drifting away from games again...gaming isnt what it use to be for me

Briefly, in college. I got into a very exclusive school, and made sure to put my studies first.

During my senior year, someone sold me a Super NES and a PS1 plus about 40 games and extra controllers for $100...and I was back. And my GPA didn't drop one bit. (Why? I made sure my roommate kept them locked up until the weekend).

Shortly after college, I dove into PC games for a while, then bought my Xbox...and I've never looked back.

i stopped at one point. when the dreamcast started to die and you seen it coming :(... no support from ea.. then the ps2 came out at a crazy high point back then too.. so i stopped for a while till the ps2 really started swinging cause at first it sucked just like the ps3 launch library sucked..

although I do game alot I'm not really that hardcore about it anymore. I do play KZ2 alot but after my old clan go robbed of 100k valor we decided to disband and I really haven't really been playin too much.. I used to be really hardcore back in the ps1 days when there was a plethora of great rpgs but those don't come around much anymore...... still a big gamer at heart but very few games can hold my attention like they used to with the exception of a few notable series that have always brought me back like GOW, MGS,FF,team ico games .... I think I wanna go play xenogears again... now thats a great game that draws me in

Nope.... there's never been a point where I've stopped gaming for a long time, but I defiantly don't play as much as I used to when I was younger because I simply don't have as much time.

And for the most part, my tastes in games haven't really changed either (prefer Single Player gaming) since I started gaming. I just started getting into the RPG genre this gen. (Fallout 3 was my first), and I had only played a couple of FPS games before this gen. even started (Doom, Quake 2, Killzone 1, BLACK and that's it)... I like playing FPS games, but I'm not really a huge fan of the genre.

Now-a-days the only genres that I don't play is RTS, JRPG's, and Sports Games. I've been wanting to get into the JRPG genre for a while, but just haven't made the jump.

Started in the early 80's with Atari, SMS, TG16CD Genesis PS1 N64 and then kind of gave up in high school for a few years, and then last year I bought a PS3 and am glad to be gamimg again!

when Nintendo and Mario where ruling the world the first go around, which is the reason I could probably never turn my back on Nintendo. But back on topic, I stopped gaming from 96 up until 2002 when I picked up Metroid Prime and thats the game that brought me back into gaming...

I Have stopped twice. both this summer. I started skateboarding again and did that for about 3 months, and I started to work on my 92 corolla. <.< after the car died and i got a new one, and broke the skateboard I went back to gaming.

I never really "stopped" gaming, but there was about a year of my life when I had no consoles, just my pc. My launch PS2 had the dreaded disc read error and I sold the first xbox. I supped up my PC and never looked back. I still do tons of PC gaming today, but my time is split between PC, PS3, and my Xbox now.

I think someone above said they slowed down because they got a good job. I'm at my first "real" job now (office) making "real" money for the first time and it enabled me to not only game more, but to game in style. Don't quit gaming just because you've acquired a real job, game on forever and when you get that real job, get a nasty TV and surround sound system and hook yourself up.

And don't let chicks get in the way either. For a period I let that happen, then I de-whipped myself.

I've had a controller of some sorts in my hands at least once a month for the past 30 years. There's such a vast amount of genres and titles (at least for my interest) to hold me over for quite some time. Even if the video game industry collapsed today I would still be playing classics at least 10 years later. It's my choice hobby.

I stopped gaming at the end of last gen and for the first 2 years of this gen. Back into again though but when I go back to uni I can see myself giving up new games and just playing classics. Start playing guitar properly again instead of wasting my time on this site.

i would love to talk shiz all day. its fun as hell but to beat your argument which goes round and round like a basketball. i truly believe psn is way superior to xbox live. i really do. my gamer style and preference just clicks with psn. i got browser, psn originals, full downloads, psp connectivity which is big for me, in game messaging, whole in game text chat rooms, home, blu tooth headsets in any style, the video store, and the joker for batmn aa. hee hee!

sophistication, class, value and cutting edge technology with a fresh experience that is building the way xbutts built live years ago. microsoft played themselves and they dont have enough exclusive studios that just cant up and leave and make ps3 games only. thats why we droids await the destruction of fan support. everybody is 1 rrod away from shooting the 360 with thier best gun.

I stopped gaming just last Thursday. My controller ran out of juice and the backup controller was dead too. I just rocked in the corner while I waited for it to charge up again.

i havent gamed for 3 weeks. ps3 died from a power surge. or something like that. its hasnt bothered me that much though. except that i cant try the batman demo. and hopefully something new doesnt come out after gamescom tomorrow. cant afford to get stupid ps3 fixed yet.

There's never been a point where I've stopped gaming for a long time, but I definitely don't play as much as I used to.
About 4 years ago i lost my interest in single player games and started with MMO's on PC.
After 2 years i got hooked on my X360 and played almost every game (53.000 achievements)
Now i'm bored with single player games exept for free roaming RPG's.I'm looking forward to Borderlands and possible MMO's on the X360 or PS3.I'm going to concentrate on a few top games in this genre and try to get more quality gaming with less time....but i never quit gaming.

I'm reading a lot now. I will start playing again when Ninja Gaiden comes out in October.

The last games I bought are RE5 and killzone 2, I got back into rc cars and that take most of my spare time and money. mostly my money.
