Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was finally released on the Playstation 3 making it now available on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation network. Up until its release it was perhaps the most anticipated digitally distributed title since the beginnings of digitally distributed games.

Everyone is trying the shared universe thing these days, but Marvel and Capcom were mashing up their most beloved characters decades ago. Perhaps their best crossover effort was Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, which was released on the PlayStation 2 & Xbox on Nov. 19, 2002, in North America. Previous releases took place in arcades and on Sega’s beloved but ill-fated Dreamcast console. Later releases came out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s digital storefronts.
Former employees of Backbone Entertainment have formed a new company called Digital Eclipse. On Twitter studio head Mike Mika confirmed they would love to help the fans. In addition to having ported MvC 2 before, the studio has worked with Disney on re-releases of the Disney Afternoon Collection, Aladdin and The Lion King. Legions of fans are waiting for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to take them for one more ride.

Arcade1Up reveals how the company was able to bring back the retro fighting game, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, with brand-new arcade cabinets.
The PlayStation Brahs:
"YouTube Maximilian Dood’s ‘#FREEMVC2’ campaign went big time viral as it spread like wildfire on social media. The goal? To get the attention of Disney and Capcom to bring back the greatness of Marvel vs Capcom 2 to modern consoles. Good news, as Capcom and Disney have had some discussions regarding the matter."
Please work it out. I have fond memories of this fighter game. Not to mention the sequels just aren't as balanced as this game was.
I really enjoyed the game on Dreamcast.
A lot less when it was later re-released on newer systems, because I believe all characters were already unlocked instead of you playing to unlock them. The SP experience on those re-releases was just ‘less’ than the Dreamcast version, which was a bit disappointing.
Would love a proper HD remake/remaster, if given the care & love it deserves (instead of a quick cash-grab with a mediocre port).
Would also love to see Capcom release a FullHD port/renaster/remake of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (psp).
I want them to rerelease the entire Marvel vs Capcom series on modern platforms, from X:Men Children of the Atom to Marvel vs Capcom 2
I’d also love for the next Marvel vs Capcom title to live up to its series legacy rather than being a disappointment like Infinite
i feel its like...
with marvel vs capcom for example, they have a bunch of street fighters colliding with a bunch of x-men characters, its like why dont you just call it, x-men vs. streetfighter-special edidtion or something.
i think the first marvel vs capcom game, had the right idea, but if it were me directing and making such a game i would remake marvel.vs capcom and simple call it (marvel vs.capcom: battle of the icons)
anyone from marvel has to have their own comic book and be popular, anyone from the capcom side has to have their own signature games and trademark.
example below...
Marvel universe- vs - Capcom universe: Battle of the icons
The thing // Dante-devil may cry
Punisher // Leon kennedy-resident evil 2&4
Daredevil // Arthur -ghost n gobblins
Ghost rider // Mega man
Thor // Strider
Blade // bioniccommando
Iron man // RYU-street fighter
Captain america// Batsu-rival schools
Spider-man // Falcon-powerstone
Hulk // Morrigan -darkstalkers
Silver surfer// Captain commando
Wolverine // Viewful joe - viewful the game
Black panter// Jin Saotome-cyberbots
Hawkeye // Hayato -plasma sword
Longshot // Samanosuke Akechi-onimusha 1&3
Deadpool // Haggar-final fight
Nova // Regina-dino crisis
Ms Marvel// Wayne-lost planet
Sub-Mariner// Phoenix Wright-ace attorney
Moon Knight // Kenji-red earth
Blackwidow // Jotaro Kujo- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Galactus(boss of game)// Barberian- Magic Sword
i know the list isnt exactly what many of you would have hoped but hey i tried my best to make sure i didnt include too many x-men or street fighters, rather characters with their comics and games.
Also from a business stand point, both marvel and capcom can help promote their own ips/franchises and producs better through a game like this, why because each character or in this case ICON represents that.
either i hope you all like it.
and it wasn't just me. we were a group of 5 dressed in our school uniform playing this game all day on the dreamcast and arcade. mvc2 is better than getting some edumacation.. LMAO.. i miss those days

1 point, there was X-men vs Street Fighter
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Marvel vs Capcom is called as such because there's some non-Xmen, like Captain America and Spider-man, and some non-Street Fighters, like Jill Valentine and Mega Man.

i know why is called marvel vs capcom and i know about x-men vs street fighter and marvel superheroes vs street fighter, i know about them games because i owned them all, the point i was trying to make was capcom just got lazy with marvel vs capcom period all they did was simply grab all the characters they had from these previous games and toss em in a new game.
instead of logically thinking of what characters would make more sense or which characters would people most defenatley want to see in their game instead of rehashing, work.
in marvel vs capcom you had characters like ryu,chun-li and zangief/ gambit/wolverine/ that repetition of the same universe of characters is what bothers me a little. not that the games arent any good or anything but just that.
now the list i compile where made of characters who are popular and have their own mark, which are represented in products and popularities as well. instead of doing a lazy job and throwing a bunch of old characters from previous games, sit down and work on reinventing or adding to that. know what i mean?
things like 2 wolverines, dont make much sense when you can easily have someone else like punisher or daredevil taking that spot. i rather have a diversity of characters than just a few popular ones and repeated at that. thats all im saying
