Top Five Things Arkham Asylum Does Right

GrE writes, "Batman as Detective: Come on, this is the earliest definition of Batman. He's the greatest detective in the world. He doesn't have super powers, so although he's trained to a intensely high degree of physical shape, he needs to be smarter than the dangerous criminals he protects his city from. The gadgets and 'detective mode' play to this strength, and carry it off well throughout the demo. I can't wait to purchase the game to play more..."

I don't know, the whole stealth action thing doesn't do much for me.

roblef6094d ago

so, you've never wanted to be THE BATMAN!?!?! Whew. Who ARE you?! ;)

y0haN6094d ago

But does it run and look good on PS3? It's Unreal Engine 3 after all.

callahan096094d ago

It runs & looks amazing on PS3.

UnwanteDreamz6094d ago

The #1 thing they did right IMO was to make both games (360 and PS3) look the same.

No reason we all shouldn't be happy to play this title. Unless steath action is not your cup-o-tea.

The demo sucked. It was horrible. 1 button combat, 1 button counters, EVERYTHING is context sensitive. Someone said "It makes you feel like Batman" because you can ONLY do what Batman does. Stealth is bad, you are behind someone? You're good, they won't notice you. The inspection mode or what ever basically points at what you need to do.

My brother compared this game to a roller coaster. "It's a guided experience safe for anyone 12 and up." You know what? It is. Not only is it really easy and extremely linear. The only thing holding this game up for me is the story (One of DC's best writers is doing the story) and the graphics. That's it.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the counters were extremely easy to do. You have a good second to counter things. It's extremely easy to do. I mean, I know Onimusha is a completely different game, but that game gives you a split second to make a counter, and it doesnt even tell you WHEN to counter like Arkham does. Freaking giant exclamation point or w/e above their heads, it makes it too easy.

@1.6

I'm not going to disagree, because It's not that you're wrong, it's that you misunderstand the demo. The demo is essentially all tutorial. Hence it's completely linear, the puzzles are simple and the combat is easy. Later in the game combat varies with different enemies and the game gives more options to the player when clearing a room. The demo is a taster, nothing more.

Seriously geeking out on this one. Not sure why, but these are some of the reasons.

CrAppleton6094d ago

Anything that has Batman in it, has my attention.

foxtheory6094d ago

The demo was INSANELY AWESOME!!! There's no reason why you SHOULDN'T be geeking out about this!!!

roblef6094d ago

There's a new trailer up, called Gadgets, that I really want to see, too.

CrAppleton6094d ago

He really needs to get his own personal Q

Neco5126094d ago

It looks like it is about time that they made a good Batman game. Hopefully they don't blow it.

Haly6094d ago

I'm a bit unsure whether it can live up to the hype, but I still can't resist desperately wanting to play it!

roblef6094d ago

The demo certainly does live up to it.

Mr_Bun6094d ago

I had a blast with the demo too!
