We all know the bots love RROD. It's the only exclusive they've got.
My 360 hasn't RROD in 1 1/2 years! Still, It is my 6th.
is that the rrod and e74 are the kinds of errors that cant be solved by minor tricks and fixes... the consoles have to be replace eventually ... like the author says the rrod is casued by over heating in which the mother board of the unit actually bends due to the heat ... and the e74 is where the thermal gel of the ana scaling chip (gpu) becomes ineffectivce and the chip actully looses its grip off of the board... while there are fixes available online .... ranging from the towel trick (wrap a towel and cover all ports of the 360 to induce more overheating) and the fix it ur self kits (dust out the inside of the 360 and replace the gel) etc ... they are all temporary solutions... the towel trick tries to bend your console's board back into place... however this bending could go either way... it could either bend back into its original postion or it could go into the complete opposite way to its eventual death... so you will eventually have to get the console replaced...
the disc read errors (which killed my first 360) are the ones that can be replaced or fixed however... (the "Play DVD" error is caused because the drive's laser becomes weak and ineffective) ("Open tray" error is casued coz the dvd drive stops spinning because the laser is completely dead and doesnt recognize a disc is inserted, temporary fix for that is to hit gentally repeatedly over the top of ur console right above the dvd drive everytime you insert the disc tray) but eventually the laser will either need to be cleaned or you just need to replace the complete dvd drive all together... and you need a few parts of the old drive to add to the new one coz every console has a unique chip that recognizes only that particular drive .... so u need to take off that chip from your old drive put it into the new drive you purchased and then ressemble those parts into the console back together... this however is extremely complicated but there are youtube user videos that may help you out... it's something that i watched when i got my 360 troubles...
read the article it might help you understand and evaluate your options if your console is in trouble
