Anymore all you see is "PS3 is in last place, sales are lower than Xbox 360" etc. While these are negative things, they are also kinda factual. Most of the bias has been replaced by simple fact reporting. Today the biggest issue is the price. This pricing teir has been pretty well played out and Sony needs to reach the next in order to increase sales. With each new tier of pricing comes in another wave of customers closer to mass market. Once more people own the system it will become more ocmmon and less people will "bash" it.

Simple answer really: Jealousy. The PS3's high price means a lot of people cannot afford to buy it and thus settle for a 360. Due to this they decide to instead of saving up for a PS3 bash it and convince themselves that they don't need it. They tell themselves that buying the 360 was their choice (when in fact they had no choice). They bash the PS3's exclusives (because they're better), the bash blu-ray (because it's better), the bash everything. Trust me, once the PS3 drops more in price the hate is going to start settling down.

No idea, but it's lame. Sony did a great job with PS1 and PS2, and both are excellent systems. I look at the PS3 in the same light, and actually prefer it personally. I think once the price drops to a reasonable price point people will understand what makes it so lovable.

Somehow some people expected Sony to sell 130 million PS3 the same as the PS2 in less than 3 years at 400-600 dollars. The funny thing is it took the PS2 7 years to sell 100 million PS2 at 199 with a launch price of 299.

You see these stupid people just take the PS3 proformance when it just started and comapre it to the PS2 at its twilight years and just assume that the PS3 is a failure because 13 million in PS3 year 1 is not equal to the PS2 130 million in year 8 even though anyone with half a brain knows that 1!=8.

PlayStation 1&2 were kings for a long time, others will try to take the thrown, attacking the PS3 will only fuel them to improve for the future. Only the strongest and most innovative will prevail. Its inevitable for PS3 to become king.

I remember playing motorstorm and resistance in kiosks when the ps3 launched, I pretty much thought it was the coolest thing ever. Then one day my cousin MADE me come over and check out this game called Gears of War that launched right with the ps3. This one day, changed gaming for me. That 600 bucks that was going to the ps3, went straight to a 360 with gears and LIVE. Like it or not, Gears of War was the first true "next gen" game and one of the best games I`ve ever played. To this day, I`m still waiting for ANY ps3 game to have the same effect gears had on me.

Since when was Ps3 was the king? ehh never! This is silly Ps3 gets knocked around because it always lacks behind the 360 in terms of multiplatforms, exclusives, features and everything else. Because they can't be better than the Xbox at anything.

I guess the reason why it's being knocked around is because of the arrogance that Sony displayed near the beginning of it's launch. That pretty much set the tone for the whole generation, in my humble opinion. I could give another example, which concerns Turn 10. Turn 10 made some very arrogant remarks at E3, and it has pretty much set the tone until it's release and beyond. Many people now hate the Forza franchise because the devs are acting like big sh!t when they haven't even done anything. Sony's comments made them sound like A-holes and now the "media" is satisfied with picking on Sony for every shortcoming that the PS3 has.

I recently purchased julys copy of official playstation magazine. what i noticed in the reviews were either the reviewers complaining about framerate problems or lag problems for the games they reviewed. Now im not going to sit here and claim there are no problems with xbox 360 games but most of the time its always problems with the ps3 version of a game...case in point...ghostbusters...a game that started development on the ps3 and still managed to come out on the short end....many excuses are still thrown out to this day....the ps3 might be the most technologically superior console but enough is enough....bring out the ps3 with more ram..a faster blu-ray drive and I will consider purchasing a ps3.

The media has painted this picture of the PS3 as being to expensive and not worth the money. It seems that whatever bad things the media has said about the PS3 the people believe. But you should believe everything you read and see when comes to the media.

So I managed to pick up a PS3 last night on a trade. I have had the 360 since about a month after it came out. I wouldn't say I'm a 360 fan boy, but I certainly never missed having a PS3 (I also own a ps2).
I hooked up the PS3 and I have to say - I'm extremely impressed. It seems like a much more 'high-tech' device. The things you can do w/ it and what it includes out of the box - Awesome. I watched a blu-ray for the first time - also awesome. I can't wait to try a game (got some w/ it). I still love my 360, but it's definetly got some serious competition for my gaming time. Can I be a fanboy of both?? :)

Because if I'm one of those who invested on the (RIP) HD DVD format I would definitely be knocking the ps3 around.

It gets kicked around because of price, the fact it was second to the market, which in turn made 360 fans and those who adopted early told other friends to get it and everyone loves an underdog. No one cheers for the dominate king.

how much the PS3 gets knocked around, because games like Resistance 1 & 2, Motorstorm 1 & 2, Uncharted, LBP, MGS4, Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, etc etc are some of the best games this generation, if not THE best games this generation, and they are exclusive to the PS3.

even when it's in last place, the PS3 is still on everyone's lips, and with an upcoming redesign and price cut, i don't expect it to be in last place for long.

Sony has delivered 2 of the best gaming platforms of the past 14 years, and the PSP is one of the best handhelds of all time (any handheld that can hang with Nintendo's handheld dominance of the market is an excellent handheld. 45 million PSPs is nothing to scoff at, even if the DS is eclipsing it). the Playstation 3 is on it's way to becoming as excellent a console as it's older brethren, and it's first three years on the market has been punctuated by some absolutely fantastic, innovative, and unique software.

as long as those game keep coming, i don't care how much the PS3 is kicked around by the media. in the end, only the haters are looking foolish (like the people that STILL, to this day, say the PS3 has no games, and that the PSN is woefully inferior to LIVE).

i own a 360 and a ps3 and play on a 50 inch 1080p screen and resistance 1 and 2 where awesome. kz2 is awesome. MGS4 is awesome. the 360 is ok if you could not afford a ps3.

People who bash the ps3 are the people who do not own the console themselves. Just like me i owned a 360, and i hated the ps3. Why? Because almost everyone told me it's a piece of trash. I went out and bought one a couple of months ago, and it was a purchase that i never thought twice to make.

I love the games those exclusives are just plain awesome especially killzone and resistance all i can say is WOW Sony proved me Wait...US wrong, this console is a freaken beast and can do so much more than the 360.

The initial bashing began when the PS3 launched and they were displaying an air of arrogance to the media. They had good reason to be confident but to take it to that level was uncalled for, and this is coming from a huge Sony fan. What I do respect about Sony is that they are showing characteristics of being true champions. Even though the media has beat them down they have learned to humble themselves without sacrificing their dignity and do all the things needed to put themselves in a better view point. If we as gamers refuse to notice qualities like that we are not gaming for the right reasons. Ali was the best boxer in history of the sport but we all know that he did not win every match and even got knocked down a couple of times. But, his true ability to be a champion showed when he got back up and bettered his strategy in order to defeat his opponents. I am not saying that everything should be forgotten but a level of respect has to be shown to a company that can endure all the lashing that Sony has in the last couple of years. Xbox, Sony and Nintendo fans alike all have a common ground to stand on. Gaming. Sony is like that confident popular kid in highschool that everyone hates but secretly wants to be. Xbox is the star athlete on the football team that has a tendency to bully those that take the light from them off the field. And, Nintendo is that quiet, passive genius in the back of the class that has great innovative ideas but has to lay in wake for the right opportunity to unveil its brilliance. We all need to wake up, stop fighting over nothing, and enjoy this luxury called gaming that we were all blessed with.

I'm not backing any of these opinions, it's just observations I've made from what everyone says here on N4G, but have you noticed a trend? Each console has it's own branch of good games (or niche w/e) that's typically prefered by the person who plays on that console. Some niches are very broad, while others are smaller, but nonetheless, that niche is typically filled by only one or two of the consoles, and thus since the odd console(s) out don't fill a person's need in that specific area, none of its games must be good.

I know this is a generality, but if I were to go into every single detail, it would be a very long comment and nobody would read it (as it is this one is long enough!)

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.
