id weren't the only ones showing off fancy new graphics engines at the SIGGRAPH 2009 conference in New Orleans. Crytek were there too, with a new CryEngine 3 demo.
Granted, it's not the most exciting clip - there's no guns, Koreans or explosions - but it is showing that, as texture counts become ever less important, it's things like the lighting on show here that will make all the difference.

FuRuy has opened a Twitter account called “Project Alice” teasing a new game announcement on April 25 at 20:30 JST.
Omar writes: "With the Horizon Festival coming to breathtaking Japan, you’ll need the essential gear to prove you’ve got what it takes to become a Horizon Legend as you cruise, drift and explore an open world full of spectacular driving experiences. That’s why we’re happy to announce the newest Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller and Wireless Headset collection, featuring inspired designs from Forza Horizon 6. The bright cyan and lime colorways celebrate the Horizon Festival’s recognition of iconic cars and hit music, with special features that are sure to impress any collector."

You can get Hall effect controllers slightly cheaper, but you'd struggle to find as feature-rich a package without some heavy, heavy sales.
Lighting is gloriously accurate, but the first part of the vid looks like it was made specifically to compete against the unreal engine 3.
that demo was crap, it looked like a poor imitation of lightmark, except with poor lighting and effects, you'd think for crytek they'd have a demo with some tasty explosions
uhh! that looks like the tect demo EPIC games showed at gdc
am i the only 1 not impressed.
But the lighting is pretty amazing for DX9.
If this will run on consoles we'll have some eye candy : )
The biggest thing they are trying to show you is how the colors reflect back onto other objects. It's pretty neat...
