Awesome, I love Google. Google Chrome, Google Maps, Gmail, etc.

I refuse to ever say "Bing it" over "Google it" but Bing's video search is awesome. I still use Google 99% of the time though.

This could be a response to Facebook buying FriendFeed which I think Twitter and Google were also looking at buying.

Ousting Google as the web's undisputed search engine leader is an uphill battle, if not impossible, for the foreseeable future.

While Microsoft's absorption of Yahoo! may seem like it can gain some ground on Google's expense, but most people fail to see that Yahoo! itself has been struggling to keep its user base and its search user numbers was steadily declining over the past few years.

Bing, or any other search engine, can compete effectively against Google only if they offer a superior experience. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Many of the top engineers at Yahoo! "defected" to Google when Terry Semel was the CEO of Yahoo! (The guy who destroyed Yahoo! for good). Google's been hiring the brightest of the youth all over the US for the past five years; hiring at a very high rate.

There is another major difference between Google's and Microsoft's strategy: Google is ahead of time and treads uncharted waters, while Microsoft plays catch up. Chrome OS, for instance, is the next generation of OS, and it will take quite a while before it gains widespread adoption, but Google will have plenty of time before then to hone its skills. Google Wave, is another example.

Google has an unused weapon as of now which Microsoft doesn't take seriously because it's not a cash cow (yet): YouTube.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of YouTube overtaking Google as the web's #1 destination in the coming years, and YouTube may very well replace what we now know as "TV". More precisely, YouTube will replace cable services and traditional TV networks. It might, in a decade or so, become Google's largest revenue generator ahead of its search/ad business.

What will Microsoft do once they realize Google has the upper hand there? Acquire Metacafe and DailyMotion?

They can laugh at Chrome OS like they laughed at GoogleApps. But they'd be wiser if they hold their laughter and quickly start developing a web-based operating system themselves.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
