Except the 360 IS effectively the more powerful machine. The top performance of the two consoles is very similar, but the 360 is much more efficient and easier to get good performance out of.

All reliable sources have told us the two consoles are very close in power. From the lead engineer of the two CPUs to developers that have worked on both platforms.

Did you guys read the Digital Foundry interview at Eurogamer with Tobias Berghoff who is the director of PS3 development for the game Sacred? He explained that the optimal performance for both consoles is surprisingly close, but that the 360 tends to give better performance in general. Here is a piece of that interview:

-Digital Foundry: Your game is 'Full HD' on both 360 and PS3 with similar performance levels at 1080p... is it therefore safe to say that the rendering power available to you is approximately the same on both platforms? If not, is there any danger that third-party developers are favouring 720p in some cases simply to ensure platform parity?

Tobias Berghoff: I usually put it like this: The optimal solutions for both platforms are usually surprisingly equal in performance (Hold it, fanboys! I'm not done!). For everything else, it's reasonably fast on the Xbox and absolutely horrible on the PS3.-

What he is saying here is that when you get things running optimally on the PS3 its performance is very similar to the 360 running optimally, but that short of getting optimal performance out of the PS3, rendering performance tends to be significantly faster on the 360 than on the PS3.

EA published L4D on the Xbox 360, which is not available to the Playstation 3. EA also has also published a lot of exclusives on the PC and Nintendo Wii.

Well, in the bonus DVD for Gears 2 CE it shows you exactly how they upped the polygons on all characters, weapons, etc. So there.

I'm going to be honest though, I like Gears 1's world better. Maps and just the look of them are better. Gears 2 made the world too big, too spaced out for the type of gameplay that Gears has. They should have made the scenery bigger not necessarily the space. Oh well, still a great game.

You guys talking about pop-in when loading the saves or pop-in while playing the game? The pop-in with the loading happens sometimes on PC but it only takes a couple seconds for everything to show up, but pop-in during gameplay has never happened to me on PC.

During gameplay. It pops in after every cut scene, load time, etc, etc. It's not your typical UE3 pop-in either. It takes a LONG time sometimes. There's also significant texture pop-in when you're navigating the inventory/character screens.

I know a little bit of pop-in is to be expected with UE3, but it's not nice and quick like Gears or something. It takes ages.

Anyway, enough about the pop-in. Mass Effect was a great game. Can't wait for part 2.

Did you just happen to forget about bluray? do u have any idea how big a game killzone 2 is? Killzone 2 would have to be on like 3 dvd's and no dnt tell me about compression techniques cause that alone would make it loose even more quality on the 360. Also the rumour was $60 million not $80 million to make. And another thing Uncharted 2 took 2 years to make and it looks better than any 360 exclusive so whats your excuse for that?? Your argument fails on so many levels. Remember a game called Too Human which came out exclusively for the 360? What was the budget in that? According to some reports the project was funded by Microsoft and had a massive development budget of 80 million. That pretty much makes it the game with the highest budget ever, after Shenmue I think. Compare Too Human and Killzone 2, and you will be embarassed at how silly you looked.

And NO games like KZ2 and Uncharted will not be possible in the 360 for now, because PS3 exclusives have better developers working on them and a more powerful hardware to work with; hence they have the better looking exclusives. Deal with it.
