Blu-ray Disc player household penetration is up to 12.3 million for the first quarter of 2009, a 71% gain year over year, according to new data from research firm Centris, just published in its report "U.S. Communications and Entertainment". This includes 7 million households with a PlayStation 3 (up 52%).
Again according to Centris, the number of American households with an HDTV is up to 50.5 million, up 33% from the first quarter of 2008. On the other hand, both satellite and cable industries appear to have stagnated somewhat, with only slight growth or none at all.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Bu bu bu bu....oh, why bother? At this point, only willfully-ignorant haters think that Blu Ray will fail.
Blu-Ray will fail just like BetaMax... a 34 year old thing(which they STILL use against Sony), which despite so called being a failure actually saw success still being produced into the year 2000(but let's ignore that) they also ignore the feature it added and was later adopted. People seem to forget BetaMaxs' success within the proffesion and media with EDbetamax offering a allmost as high quality as dvd.
BetaMax was not a failure for being obselete but for being too expencive and if anything BetaMax was better than VHS.
So stop saying the following
-Blu-ray will fail
-PS3 has failed
-PSP is being burried by Sony
-Sony is closing.
Blu-ray is a huge success, I own a player as do millions of people and it has an higher adoption rate of DVD... so stop saying it will fail, it offers better quality than download and HD-DVD it may or may not be the future but it is no failure.
lol penetration.
I wonder when Microsoft will start to adopt it?
Tee-hee! "Penetration".
