"Instead of the previously planned third fiscal quarter, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2 are now scheduled for a fourth fiscal quarter release."

Oh...

Rainstorm816143d ago (Edited 6143d ago )

Doesnt Ubisoft's fourth quarter fiscal year end in March???

Besides Splinter Cell needs to avoid Oct 13th, Game of the Year Releases that day.

@ Pirate Thom 2.2

Thats what I thought. Splinter Cell 2010 is likely

JonnyBigBoss6143d ago

Good point. GOTY Uncharted 2 and the highly anticipated title Forza 3 both come out in October. Not to mention that other solid titles are set for November/December. Looks like everything is shifting to early 2010.

ShabzS6143d ago

dont forget mordern warfare 2 as well ... definite contender for goty ... it basically shoved bioshock out of the way ....

damn very dissapointed in ubi and ms ..... was really looking forward to sc

morganfell6143d ago

Ubisoft decided it would be better to send Sam up against Kratos...

raztad6143d ago

@shbzhar

Dont get mad at MS, that delay is clearly a Ubi decision. Probably game needs more polishing time/fixes to be up to standard. Another thing is that they already have AC2 (blockbuster) hitting shelves at some time in November, probably Ubi just wanted to get a heavy hitter like SC:C to push their last quarter profits.

Anyway I can feel your pain (and Kionic's) this delay would be equivalent to UC2 delay to 2010, totally disheartening and render the 360 lineup very thin.

OmarJA6143d ago

Ain't that a b!tch...

Oh well, looks like the PS3 is the best console for exclusives again.

Traveler6143d ago

That sucks. It's not just getting delayed on the 360 but also the PC, which is the version I was planning on getting.

This also means that the first half of 2010 is going to be even more packed with good games and I won't be able to afford even a fraction of all of the games I want at that time. C'est la vie.

PirateThom6143d ago

I don't think it means 2010, I think it moves it from September to October.

KingKionic 6143d ago

Of course silly.

It didn't say first quarter .

PirateThom6143d ago

Yeah, but Ubisoft's fiscal dates are different from calender dates:

June 30, 2009 was the end of their first quarter, according to the full press release:

http://www.ubisoftgroup.com...

September would be 2nd Quarter
December would be 3rd Quarter
March would be 4th Quarter

KingKionic 6143d ago

My god..

Now you have me worried.

mithril6143d ago

ubi say that:

"Instead of the previously planned third fiscal quarter, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2 are now scheduled for a fourth fiscal quarter release."

on one post you say that :

I don't think it means 2010, I think it moves it from September to October.

and you say :

March would be end of 4th Quarter, if mars is end of 4th Quater the begining is january how ubi can release game on 4th Quater in 2009 ?????

PirateThom6143d ago

I had misread the report in that first post.

..got everybody running for the hills, smart move if you ask me, but now their games are going to have to go up against GOW3. LOL maybe the devs need more time to Port the PS3 version of Conviction for a day and date release ;P

raztad6143d ago

I dont think so. MW2 release date is known for ages, why 2K or Ubi are changing their calendar just now?

Look carefully, from 2K: Mafia2, Bioshock2 and Red Dead R all of they delayed, but do you really were expecting all those games to come out in such a short period of time, all those heavy hitters? that would be financial suicide for 2010.

Regarding SC:C, I smell technical issues/more time to polish the game. A decision so late in the party makes me think this delay is an emergency measure.

That said, there is already several games struggling for gamers money. October is EPIC.

morganfell6143d ago

I don't think it is MW2 that has people scared.

KingKionic 6143d ago

Wow..its delyayed

http://www.videogamer.com/n...

I cant belive this....I will kill myself now .

*leaves *

callahan096143d ago (Edited 6143d ago )

It's disappointing, but there's plenty to play between now and then. Patience! Don't go hurting yourself, now. I wouldn't be surprised if Assassin's Creed 2 is part of the reason for the delay. It really doesn't make sense for Ubisoft to release both games right around the same time. They are sort of similar, except for the setting.

KingKionic 6143d ago

...Next will be forza 3...

oh no....

callahan096143d ago

Nah, Forza 3 is probably going to come out on time. I've seen no reason to believe it's not on schedule. Splinter Cell on the other hand, well they've never been able to put down a solid date on this thing so it doesn't surprise me at all that they're still having trouble picking a date.

Omega46143d ago

WHAT!!!!

I bet the game will be completed this year as well, they just want to delay it for so their sales report look better.

Cant MS just pay the difference for releasing it this year

Metal Gear Solid (not first game in the series)

Luigis Mansion 3 doesn’t really belong in that list because the first game was great and it’s sequels didn’t really redefine the series.

Onimusha 2
but hey, we can make 1k improved sequel if we keep going on 😂

Have there been any reviews for this game?

Akira20202424d ago

Wait till you guys see all the Pay To Win micro-transactions that are in this game!! Yes, everything from buying weapons (NOT just skins), to attachments, to skill unlocks, to "time savers", etc....and this is just naming a few. Check out the videos online for Breakpoint's Store!

I was so jacked for this game, but now it's a pass just like this year's COD.
I'm predicting that these greedy companies will soon be the death of video games as we know it.
