"With the hype surrounding the announcement of Microsoft's motion control technology, Project Natal, there has been much talk and speculation about what the new tech will do when it becomes available in late 2010. Everything from motion control integration into old hits like Burnout Paradise to new games like the Ricochet demo at E3 have been shown and discussed, but the lack of public demos have left many still curious about what exactly will work with Natal and what will fall flat. Based on what we've seen from the "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" thus far, here's a list of five things that could potentially be fantastic uses for the device, but have not been directly addressed by Microsoft at this point. Do you agree or disagree with our list, what is your outlook on the motion controller for Xbox 360 known as "Project Natal?"

The most notable reveal would perhaps by the requirements of the Xbox 360 console itself. While Microsoft has insisted since the original unveiling of Kinect at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2009, then known as Project NATAL, that the device would be compatible with all Xbox 360 consoles, the revelation of a dedicated port included on the newly redesigned Xbox 360 model has sparked rumours of incompatibility, which were quickly debunked.
odd, i was led to believe it lacked an internal processor and so also needed a core to itself, if not 1-2 processing threads.
So pretty much the same spec as the PS Eye, although I thought the eye went up to 120 Hertz...
"Tracks up to 6 people, including 2 active players"
I think now its official that just 2 ppl can play at the same time.

Xbox Evolved:
"Microsoft is holding no breaks in making sure the general public knows all about Kinect. What cooler spot to also show it than with Jimmy Fallon? "
although i usually watch fallon. i'll have to catch an internet clip of it later.
was pretty funny. same demos they showed at E3 though. Nothing new. But they sure are marketing it quick.
wow first that girl's co-worker hosts the Kinect event and now she's her playing it. I see the audience Microsoft is definitely going after with Bieber, Cosgrove and McCurdy - teenage pop audiences.

Meodia writes, "So about a year ago when Project Natal was first starting off, many Xbox 360 and even other gamers were worried about the future of their console. A local shovelware dumping ground didn't sound quite appealing and Natal looked like it would serve extra servings of it. But Microsoft reassured us, holding our hands and telling us that everything would be alright. Since then, nothing has changed. After that "conference" at E3, we were shown nothing but how to please little girls."
It's funny because after the Microsoft conference, we actually saw some. In fact, I'm surprised that they showed off the shovelware they did, and then an hour later Sonic Freedom Riders and Child of Eden were shown off and completely destroyed what Microsoft displayed.
gotta agree, MS is exactly like nintendo 2 years ago. hey, what ever happened to that dumb ass vitality sensor.
I am actually really looking forward to Project Natal; I think it competes with anything the PS3 or Wii are currently showing off and the 5 things you stated in your list would make it even more appealing; well written!
To me the most important factor in determining whether or not Natal will be successful is on your list and that is the integration of the hardware into other new and existing Xbox 360 games/franchises; without this it's just another "Vision Camera" and the limited practicality or longevity of the product won't allow it too succeed; good luck though, I really hope it can do well...
As long as motion control is not forced on me with future hardcore games.
The day I am forced to move more than my thumbs and fingers to play games like Mass Effect/God of War/Call of Duty ect ect, is the day I sell my PS3 and 360 and say adios to Playstation and Xbox.
It really sucks that I can no longer play the Mario/Zelda Franchises because I cant stand motion control. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I just cant enjoy motion controls at all.
I really hope Hardcore game developers don't start making motion controls mandatory, just so they can appeal to the casual audience, instead of doing what they do best.
I really hope this ends up as a great thing, but I'm just worried that it'll turn out as just a novelty. I really enjoyed your list!
This is a unnecessary sku, why divide your userbase even more? Now you'll have those with harddrives, those without harddrives, those with natel, those without natel, what the heck!! What about all the people who already own a X-box, it screws the exsisting customers over just because Microsoft decided they would be greedy and try and nab a piece of Nintendo's casual gamer pie. I though Microsoft catered to the hardcore audience, they don't really know what they want & seem to just be be playing follow the leader, Nintendo.
