WiiLand - "The sad truth is that Microsoft and Sony might have jumped the gun in their mad console arms race by forcing the introduction of HD gaming before its time. Nintendo had different plans for the Wii. They correctly predicted that not enough households were going to have HDTV in the coming years... and is now the definitive market leader... all without HD."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
It's also the system with the weakest library by far.
I own a Wii, but I absolutely abhor the attitude that Wii fans take, that due it being top in sales, it's somehow the best console.
Unfortunately, that's simply untrue. The PS2 and PS1 both had the library to back up their sales, the Wii, to be quite blunt, does not.
Yes we do, it opens doors for new ideas.
I like the idea of a Wii HD, not for the visuals but what Nintendo would do with their franchise.
Same as when i played SoTC i wondered what team ICO could do on the Ps3 if they ever make a SoTC2.
Its just that Nintendo and many other developers can pull off amazing stuff with such specs, then the creativity will really explode with more processing power. Although its not a must, but yes it would be nice.
"Wii HD" (Patcher is in trouble) Is going to cost 499$ when its released than I say no thanks.
And the author is right; Not having HD hasn't hindered the Wii from whoopin both HD twins on the sales charts. Quality and all that is 100% subjective.
Nintendo didn't rely on the gimmick of eye candy..they relied on the 'gimmick' of innovation.
My question would be, where do Sony and M$ go from here? They already have HD..whats next? Super HD? I wonder what the dev costs to make games for those systems would be. Maybe enough to sink 5 factor 5's.
yeah better sepcs mean better graphics. but i dont really care for graphic. for me to actually buy it all depend on the gameplay and qualites of the game. well most 3rd party games dont really interest me at all
Its hard for me to play games not in HD lol....sad truth =/
