Firefox 3.5 vs. Chrome 3 Showdown, Round 4

BetaNews write in their Browser Showdown series Round 4:

"While some are still sounding the trumpets over Google's proclamation that its Chrome Web browser technology will be elevated to the role of operating system sometime next year, there are some Web applications engineers who wonder why it isn't one already. Once Chrome 3 is proclaimed fully functional on Linux, it will essentially make the same Web applications accessible from the desktop that Chrome OS plans to do. And if you don't mind the fact that the Chrome 3 Web browser is in the development stage, whether you're running Linux or Windows XP on your netbook, it does that right now."

I use it and its the BEST!

Chrome > FireFox > IE8 > Safari !!!

verb3k6139d ago

Firefox is much better

Chrome crashes all the time and doesn't have add-ons. Also, it consumes more memory than FF because it uses a separate process for every tab you open.

The article says Final score is:
Firefox = 4
Chrome = 0

JonnyBigBoss6139d ago

Actually, if you have something to complain about with Chrome it isn't crashing. Chrome is yet to crash on me but Firefox used to crash all the time. It's some of the other features where Firefox has an edge, but not crashing.

menoyou6139d ago

when chrome gets real plugin support, then it will best. until then, no.

a_squirrel6139d ago

I do like Chrome and Firefox better than IE8's bugging, messed up browser

Other than that, I don't care which I use

crazy250006139d ago

I installed just Chrome and it causes way too many problems.....then I installed just Firefox by itself and its fine.....anyways I prefer Firefox, I can customize it any way I want.

poindat6139d ago

I prefer Firefox, but since I installed 3.5, it takes ages to start up. Incredibly annoying, and it is making me think about switching to Chrome.

misinformed person is misinformed. in terms of pure speed, Safari edges out FF 3.5 however, if you're in dire need of plug ins and customizability, then FF is better.

FF3.5 still doesn't get 100 on acid3 test either.

I just switched to Google Chrome about 3 weeks ago. I prefer it over Firefox except for how bookmarks work and the lack of a GameFAQ addon.

CameO736139d ago

It's really simple for me: no XMarks, Firebug and Adblock support (3 Firefox plugins) means no Chrome for me. Any other feature (speed, "web app support" or whatever) simple can't fill that hole.

maverick11916139d ago

well i use chrome and theres only one site ive found that crashes and thats a newspaper site i hate all these add ons and customisation stuff clogs it all up chrome suits me just going to one site to the next and its faster than firefox

ive found firefox to become unresponsive at times and just crashes during long uses but chrome handles it all for me

claney6139d ago

i am with you, except my Chrome hasnt chrashed on me, but i dont care about add-ons all i want is a browers thats designed well, quick, and gets from 1 page to another without dieing, i hate cloged up interfaces, thats why i like Chrome and the XMB

Loxhart6139d ago

How the heck did Chrome get to version 3 so fast?

I still prefer Firefox, I just love the add-ons.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing17d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit17d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing17d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
