Pachter: MS Handheld Way Off

NowGamer: Industry analyst Michael Pachter has told NowGamer that he doesn't expect Microsoft to enter the portable gaming market in the 'foreseeable future'

Wedbush Morgan analyst Pachter said: "I don't see Microsoft as being competitive in handheld gaming. The Zune has been a commercial disaster, and their core Xbox consumer is too old to carry a handheld gaming device."

Popinsky: Pachters Predictions Way Off

LiL T6186d ago

This guy is an idiot. What about the Zune HD will that have the capabilities of playing games? (serious question ) It would be intresting and would definitely give the ipod a run for it's money. It would be a good platform to get microsoft into the handheld market. If Zune HD will connect to 360 it would make sense to at get some xbla games on it.

ZombieAutopsy6187d ago

MS just had one of their people say that the Handheld isnt a priority right now and prolly wont be for a while now.

Thugbot1876186d ago

I recall Microsoft stating the same thing recently. I guess Pachter realized his normal buffoon like predictions weren't coming true so he decided to repeat words from a MS Exec and call it a prediction.

I want this guys job! All he does is sit around making claims and trying to predict the future of companys he has absolutely no connection to. I could do that!
And I bet he gets paid a fortune.

Mr Patcher sitting in his office "well thats my 200k a year salary justified"

I rekon he writes these on post it notes then spends the rest of the week twirling in his chair and drinking coffee

Sorry, I could not help it, hes always been off on all his prediction and we have idiots asking a true born moron what hes opinion is, but the problem is that they know that whatever he says to do the opposite.

Oh well look whos in the spotlights again, yeah! Jerry springer, I meant
to said, "the comedy moron of gaming".

sofresh2006186d ago

Well if Patcher says it, it must be true.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman72d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
