Batman: Arkham Asylum Hands-On Preview

Leigh Sherval writes: "Batman: Arkham Asylum will be swooping onto shop shelves next month and in anticipation of the games release I attended a preview event at the Roxy Bar and Screen in London, where Batman was playable and a number of the development team were on hand for interrogation.

It's fair to say that most Batman games aren't up to scratch and you may wonder what a relatively small developer like Rocksteady is doing handling the license. Sefton explained how they came to be working on the project and, to be honest, it's not surprising that Eidos and Warner Bros bought into the pitch after seeing the game in action. Rather than concentrate on one specific style of gameplay, Rocksteady has waded into what makes Batman such an enduring character. The wealth of gadgets he has at his disposal, the fear he instills in his enemies and the fact that he can handle himself in a fight. Mixing stealth with all out action, and a palpable atmosphere, the game looks to be doing the canon proud."
