NextGN: "Videogames have never been considered as an art form. Their main purpose has always been to entertain us and nothing more. Movies and music albums have attained legendary status among the popular culture while videogames are still playing catch-up in terms of gaining media's and people's respect. Sure, gamers and videogames journalists around the world consider some videogames, like Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, a true work of art, but for the mainstream media they are still just "videogames""

Ben from Netto's Game Room takes a look at 7 video games where dying doesn't mean the end, as the story and world simply continue on without you.

We present a list of horror games with depressing endings, each known for its unique experience and storytelling.

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.
I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.
I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.
No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
I think that's quite the overstatement... maybe even a massive overstatement. Heavy Rain will be neat and cool but to capture the imagination of millions in ways never before seen and captivate the majority to see the light of video game glory? One almost requires a facepalm picture for this article.
Saying all that I'm looking forward to playing Heavy Rain but no post Heavy Rain videogames will still be very much videogames.
I highly doubt it but who knows. Personally, i wouldn't buy it.
i think heavy rain will be an underground hit. people will find it amazing from the story line and also graphically intense. but it will not be a major hit unfortunatly, because the mass market want FPS, platformers, and racing games.
I agree with the above posters. It will be really cool, but it won't "redefine" gaming. The only time gaming comes even close to 'redefining" is the release of a new console.
Even though I despise QTEs, I do think that this game will be what MGS1 was to the PS1. I mean, it'll have excellent story and characters, memorable music, stuff like that.
So will it redefine gaming? Content-wise, yes. Gameplay-wise, no.
It's too bad that those of us who dislike QTEs will miss out on this. Having said that, I'll definitely watch a walkthough for it, LOL!
