Europe-nintendo writes ""It's in third place." "Sony messed up." "Sony is doomed!" Unless you're new to the internet (in that case, welcome!), you've probably heard all of the anti-Sony comments before. Ever since its launch in 2006, the PS3 has been often called a failure by certain websites and people (and of course, fanboys). Even in 2009, with Sony's outstanding game lineup, people are still criticizing the console and its games. The point is, people still love to hate the PS3. But is any of it true? After doing some research, I've come to the conclusion that no, it's not even close. In fact, despite currently being outsold by the Wii and Xbox 360, Sony's latest console has been doing a very good job."

November 2025 is the 61st month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 3 by 1.57 million units.
In the last 12 months, the PS5 has grown its lead over the PS3 by 3.31 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 28.11 million units.
PS3 got a bad rap because of the price. I bought it day one (I was very lucky). A Blu-ray player was more expensive than the PS3 at the time around 800$+
Good to see there is an improvement despite the challenges plaguing this generation.
At the end of year 5, the ps3 received a pricecut making the 160GB model $250 and the 320G GB model $300.
I miss those days when there was not so much demand for microchips and the prices of things generally came down.
Now everything seems to be a smart device with very few companies to supply the needed chips.
Why compare to the PS3? The machine was a total abortion.
Comparing to 4 would be best being it’s the previous generation and was hugely successful.
we should also not forget what shitstorm the ps3 got cause of the price bk then
it was still a phenomenal console

Ill have to write this down.

well said sir, finally someone admits Sony are doing a good job. And your not even a PS3 site! Nice to know europe-nintendo aren't to arrogant as to dismiss PS3 but give it its merits. Wii still sucks though...
