You want $100 knocked off the price? Has anyone gone out and gotten the latest Killzone 2 and MGS4 PS3 package deals, which is $100 worth of software included free? That brings it down to a $299 system, one that you don't have to buy a wireless adapter for, comes with a rechargeable controller, and two of the best games in the last year.

Stop complaining about the install base when Sony is already throwing lower prices at you by packaging them with great games but you're choosing instead to continue to kvetch about it because it makes you happy to kvetch and moan all day long on the internets.

Edit: The reason why these package deals are the best Sony can do now is because they mitigate the need to lose money on the hardware by removing their royalty fee costs from the package deals, which allows them to give the publishers the same profit on the sales while keeping their profit on the hardware steady. Until Sony gets the cost of the hardware down, they're not going to lower the price of the console. Stockholders would lynch whomever decided to go forward with losing $50+ per console if they did.

Quality and Quanty, anyway ps3 is to expensive i no they lose money blah blah blah but if sony wants the ps3 to be sucessful PRICE CUT has to come fast what sony also doesnt seem to really realise is they say they have a 10 year life cycle the message comes across they can catch up to xbox 360 in that time no matter what the price. if more people keep buying xbox 360's while the ps3 is more expensive in my mind thats more people who wont be buying a ps3... likly ever so come on sony chop chop! price cut!

When Big Exclusive games hit month after month and does not do as well as other BIG exclusives on other platforms, there is something wrong here. We know Sony does not advertise well or just doesn't wanna spend the money to maximize developers efforts but my theory has always been, the PS3's install-base is skewed.

Out of 23 mill+ a big portion of that are Video afficiatos and not the types thats gonna buy GREAT Exclusive games. Yes, everything comes together from the development of a game, publishing but the Marketing is not there. Regardless, of those game sales, the hardware has to be affordable, obviously in a rough economy, that it's not but some swear the 360 is still more expensive but retract, when they see the hard numbers, as to why it sells.

Now we all know NA is he biggest market currently. I think it's a great indicator of how things may go, though some disagree. It's also where Sony has been down YOY and really making up the difference world-wide through Japan(as expected). Whether it could continue to stay like this who knows. But with a 10 year plan and a price-cut, I'm sure things will change but unlike the PS2's era the economy stinks bad.

This will be about TOP business strategy for the first4-6 years. So who can position themselves at a good price-point and sell based on what they think is value. We all know what may be value or or worth it to one, is not the same for another. Sometimes price do dictates purchasing power. MS/Nintendo knows this and will continue to try to cut into Sony's market-share, while they are down.

I belive the ps3 is great i got a good deal for what it has to offer me. I enjoy the games and blu-ray movies in the end thats all that matters and should matter to a gamer. Same goes for reviews it matters if you like it not someone else.

I really don't care Infamous is an awesome game. Sales numbers aren't going to deter my enjoyment of it. Just like sales numbers had no effect on my enjoyment of Too Human.

I own a ps3 and I've notice ps3 does not have a variety of games yet as the ps2 did. most of the ps3 games are only hardcore which I dont play. sony need to start making variety of games now.. they cant just sit on hardcore games year after year after year
casual gamers like to play on ps3 as well I mainly use my ps3 for blu-ray movies ....... just my opinion

hmm... somewhat have to disagree with the articles. It simply a matter for economics and value for money. PS3 is still an expensive platform over the competition, but it still selling rapidly satisfactory. SONY did not drop their sell price while Xbox done it numerous times.

If SONY is a lot cheaper, i am sure a lot of people will buy it. But that will also degrade it's value. It's simple economics.

Games like infamous I rent. Yes, it's a cool game but after running through it 2 times what is left? No MP. My only true purchases Uncharted 2 (can't wait), Ratchet and Clank and Call of Duty. All the so-so games cost 9.99 to rent from Blockbuster and I can keep it 10 days which is plenty of time to burn thru a game.

Also, with all the bundles coming out, I can just trade in my unit to bestBuy and get a new one. Had MGS4 bundle it died in 12 months. Traded it in for Uncharted bundle. Month later (2 days ago) I took it in and traded it out for the KZ2/MGS bundle AND had in-store credit so I grabbed Prototype. Just flashdrive the saves and rent the ho-hums. Buy only those AAA titles I know I will play again and and again.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.
