its a bomb for making money, but its not a bomb if you look at its gaming attributes. But the whole reason MS entered the console world was to gain money, which they are not doing. Really people dont try and spin this, they are losing money so its a bomb.

GJ .. I think there is only 50 or 60 million hardore console gamer.. and if any console want to sell more than 20 or 30 they must put sth different in it.. like Wii(cheap and fun) or PS2( as a cheap DVD player ) or PS3 (multimedia, BR player, PC..)...

anyway 360 is far more better than XBOX1 in term of games and support..

the console race because sony had started making the super computer claim an many analyst had started talking about consoles REPLACING PC's. an PC's are MS money line, an they saw a threat by sony to there hold on the PC front. so to make sure that don't happen an they stay on top, they decided to get into the console race!! MS isn't worried about loosing money, all they trying to do is make sure sony don't overtake their (MS) place in the home entertainment department.

Only reason these units are not selling off the store shelves, PS3 as well, is because of the high price point. That is why it is not fair to compare this generations numbers with last generations numbers.

Once both systems reach an affordable price, that is when people can talk realisticly about the success of the systems.

I read that headline and thought, "God, don't tell me they're actually exploding now."

I am just extremely pissed off with all the crap stirrers on this site. Besides the maturity level here is not really high, judging by the single bubble posters. Take it how you want, but this is the worst site for actually reading any kind of news on any console or gaming peripheral. The sites that I mentioned before are far more interesting and should I say reserved with the amount of crap they come out with.
Been signed up to this site for over a year and a half but could never be bothered posting as there only kindergarten level arguments going on all over the place. Each side is as bad as one another.

Last time i read about how Microsoft are losing money on the 360 and what they hope to achieve long-term, an MS employee, I really cannot remember the name, stated that they know they will lose money for now and at best, will break even later, but MS's goal is not profit in this generation but the following one.

This generation is all about taking a great chunk of market share from Sony and Nintendo, something the original Xbox couldn't really do.

But as everyone can admit, the 360 is a much better planned console with the software library this time being better than that of the PS3 currently, and for alteast another year.

MS will be successful in their goal; taking market share.

The generation following this will be the most telling though as to whether or not MS will continue developing games consoles.

I hate these annoying articles for any system. I hate analysts, what gives them the right to "analyze" anything. Their ideas are no smarter than mine. The 360 is selling well, it has a new SKU now, it has a HUGE year of games coming up, and that only makes for more consoles sold, which makes for more games, the first Xbox sucked, but you cant say the 360 is a "bomb" after 16 months, espescially when Forza 2, Bioshock, Too Human, Mass Effect, and Halo 3 are all on the way. With Microsofts marketing expertise, all those games are easily capable of selling 2-3 million copies, Halo 3 is like 10 million. So give me a break with these stupid analyst articles. Oh and I cant see how it's failing when all my friends who owned a PS2 and gawked when I bought a 360, now all own the 360 because it's bad ass. We're all going to end up having the PS3 also, I already do, but the point is everybody knows the 360 is awesome.

Micro$oft's foray into the game console industry is purely to monopolize it, just like with Winblow$ on the PC - and create a cash cow. They know about loses made in console sales and how they need to be made up in licencing. Now, the question is how long they are willing to stick it out and keep taking those loses?

The only way Micro$oft will win is if Sony concedes. This is not going to happen. Sony is still raking in millions with PS2 - an old gen h/w - which is still outselling next gen. And the PS3 is a much powerful machine.

Yes, 360's current and growing library is looking good. Hell, I'm a Sony fanboy but I'm still going to get a xbox(second hand)in 2 years to get my hands on Halo, Forza, Mass, Gears etc. I'm not in any hurry to get one as with my PS3 the games are coming which are just as good. Okay, maybe no Halo killer but that's why I'm going to have to buy that mongrel xbox. But when it's all said and done, these games are merely prolonging the end.

Okay, sony made monumental mistakes and got off to a bad start but the tide is clearly changing in their favour:

* PS3 library is growing - the great games are coming.
* PS3 net service improving - they have learnt from their mistakes.
* PS3 price will drop - as it always has with consoles.
* PS3 is a PC alternative - which the PS2 never was and which the 360 won't be.
* PS3 sales will increase - as the PS2 buyers eventually migrate.

Sony will not be conceding defeat especially when Little Big Planet arrives in 2008. This simple game will finally give PS3 victory because everyone who's anyone will want to play this game. It's simply great fun which is what gaming is all about. Also, User-created content is the future of games.

What is also the future is the PC Console(aka Home Entertainment Centre) - gaming, internet, productivity, media centre. Sony hasn't promoted the PS3 as a PC alternative yet, although it clearly is with Linux and FOSS such as Firefox, OpenOffice, NVU, The Gimp etc, installed.

Most PC users dont need a high spec pc. So it doesnt make sense to buy a PC and a console when you just need to buy one unit - the PC Console. Put your loyalties aside, this is obvious. And once people wake up to the idea of the PC Console then the war will finally be over. Ps3 is the very first PC Console and it certainly won't be the last.

So....Micro$oft will lose the war. The faster this happens, the faster they can simply focus on software development and port their great games to the PC Console victor. I can't wait to be playing Forza 4, Halo 5, Gears 4 on the PS4. Come on xbot fanboys. Open your eyes. You are merely prolonging things. Bring down micro$oft and stop them from monopolizing the industry. You will still get all those great games and exclusives you rant on about. But they'll all just be on a different and superior piece of hardware....which is how you should be judging a console's merit, by the way.
