IGN: Borderlands: Mixing Genres

IGN writes: "It seems like it'd be an easy sell for Gearbox's Borderlands. Mix one part first-person shooter with one part Diablo-style loot hunt and you've got the basic formula for gameplay. In Borderlands, you blast around the open game world, known as Pandora, picking up hundreds of thousands of types of weapons, leveling up and customizing your character's skills and, if you like, hopping into vehicles to more quickly traverse the virtual terrain. Mix in online functionality so you can quest with others and it seems like a dream game for loot-grind genre fans looking for a more substantial gameplay experience than spamming skills and potions".
