I hate people who make up stories for hits, I'll believe this when we hear something from Sony themselves. And given their track record of not telling anyone anything until after it's happened then we won't be hearing anything from them anytime soon. :D

There's no reason to, besides newer specs. Sony doesn't have to release a new PSP, they just need to keep support going for their current PSP.

I love the PSP just as it is, PSPgo isn't for me. And if it's true, they better not change the body, it's the perfect layout for form and functionality. Beautiful screen too...they better not change that!

edit: listed under Rumors, but this guy is saying that it WILL have all these features? so FAIL it's not even funny.

This is a joke and the psp is selling too well currently (especially in japan) for them to cannibalize their sales with a new one. The Go! will let them know what direction the should take with their next system anyways.

and im sure they have the specs for what they want to do already for the new one even if its not coming till 10/11/12

im sure they have the specs for the PS4 down on paper

the ps3's cell went into development in 2001 a year after the ps2 was made
they got to be prepared for the future

That page only speculated about the IT and Sony agreement. Them fail to select the actual chip, a model that keeps under development even today, and the final specs. Nothing to do with the info provide by EG.es.

why is it that everytime something from sony is leaked people call it fake then it ends up being real? the fact is sony (or more the playstation brand) is full of leakers.

This could be a possibility. My reasoning is that they could retire the original PSP and have the PSP Go! which would be the online but slower portable with no UMD, and then also have a psp2 which would have a disk drive of some sort and be the "powerhouse" of the two. Seems logical...to me at least. Though I doubt this will happen any time soon!

doesnt mean its coming out next year or even the year after. Also I am sure they are gathering new tech for their next psp. Whether this is true or not I am sure things are going on in the background regarding psp2.

yeah thats also what im wondering, my plan was to get the PSP Go and then the PSP2 when it was released since i only own the original PSP 1000 but just recently broke, i wanted a new one, but it doesnt seem very logical that both PSP2 and the Go are going to be released around the same time.

This may be fake I dont know but I'm looking forward to the release of the PSP2.Im hoping for a 2011 release because if done right this could be the best gaming console of all-time.The PSP2 will be like the PS3 only on a handheld.I would love to play a KILLZONE game on the go(not the PSPGo Im talking about the PSP2).Maybe even UnCharted,MAG,God of War,GTA:SA2(only on the PSP2)and Socom:Confrontation because SlantSix make great PSP games.Its really bad they had to do a Socom game because they had to follow the founders of the game and they didnt show us how great they could be.I hope Zipper and SlantSix should work on SOCOM4.That way SlantSix can come back really strong with Socom:Confrontation2.

The reason I want GTA:SA2 only on the PSP2 is because PS3 owners will be playing Agent and GTA5.

LOL.. there is no way that a non Microsoft product will support Dx10 unless they make a deal with Microsoft.. and knowing the "amazing" bond between Microsoft and Sony, this will never happen. These specs are FALSE!

"DX10" is just a metaphor for the level of shader support the gpu can provide. Nothing else. Obviously on anything Sony this is most likely OpenGL ES (2.x?).

If this is right Super Secret knows what he's talking about, If anyone remembers his final post he mentioned a PSP 4000 will be coming.

Well sony will already have rough ideas as to what specs to be using for the PSP2.

This doesnt mean its coming out soon, its just that its probably in early development at the moment.

I hope this is the case . im planning on getting a psp go this year. a psp2 will p*ss me off if it comes out so soon.The hardware inside the psp is good as it is , there is no reson to bring out a new one at least until nintendo shows there hand.

It takes a while to get such a baby to the market. There is a lot happening in the mobile gaming sector, iphone included. Not keeping up with the technology and the development on Sony's end would be the death blow to the PSP (as a successful handheld gaming device as such - not necessarily the PSP as we know it now). Sony needs to be prepared for the competition, this PowerVR chip is currently the top of the line in mobile devices - other then the Tegra from NVidia. A lot of people also would want to see it in a Sony device, I can imagine. Could also be the cause for some pipe dreams.
