360 is an overpriced piece of garbage. It might be great as a heater for the winter but that's all (unless you really like netflix and have no PC).

They also didn't event include the price of paying for batteries each time or having to play for a play & charge kit (which still takes longer to charge than the PS3 controllers).

The NetfliXbox 360 is a last gen console, no need to bother with that. Even the Wii is more of a next gen console than the 360. lol, disc trays.

And yet the 360 still outsells the PS3, so much for price being the reason no ones buying it.

I think over all price 360 is way cheaper (199€) but for value i think PS3 is a better deal (Blu-Ray player, not much difference in games, better exclusives IMO) so it depends on who you are really =)

360 only ends up being more expensive long-term if you use Live, or get a peripheral like the HD-DVD add on or wireless adapter or the insanely overpriced hard drives. I bought my PS3 for $100 more than my 360.. if I had bought Live the two years that I've had it, it would almost match what I paid for my PS3, but I didn't. I'll definitely say that the PS3 has more value if you compare it to the sum cost of a 360 with all the peripherals, in that things like wi-fi, blu-ray, and online service are all free and built-in, but in terms of raw cost you can't really claim that the 360 COSTS more than the PS3 unless upon buying a 360 you're REQUIRED to get Live and a wi-fi adapter or a new hard drive or something.

First year on the PS3, repair = free. After that they charge you 200 Euro overhere in Europe and you get back a refurbished PS3 from someone else.

Chances are none for a dying PS3rd? Don't think so. My BluRay died after just 3 weeks of use. Many people and well know forum members on N4G got YLOD. So thats 200 Euro after that first year, which is half of a new one. And with a new one with the right bundle you even get one or two games, so most optimal something like 100 to 120 Euro less paying for the hardware, makes it 280 to 300 for a new one or 200 Euro for a refurbished model with maybe older/hotter hardware. NICE!

Wireless adapter? Don't need. Cable = more stable and faster. I even put a cable on my PS3 if I get the chance. No wifi adapter bought.

And XBL costing some money... Its worth it period. PSN = like eating from the trashbin. Its free, but one doesn't enjoy as much as

I bought both on launch day..as I have done with all consoles going back to SNES. I have always said the PS3 is >>>>>>>&g t;>> better value than the 360.

Also the comparison should compare them to make them equal removing the repair costs.

To get the PS3 for HD you need a HDMi $20 at the tops
To get your 360 to have a play+charge kit is $25 tops
You will also need a WI-FI and HD-DVD player which is $150 for the two tops for the 350
Also you will need online play that's another $50 so to get them equal the PS3 is cheaper but for the core the 360 is cheaper.

I think the repair cost is weak to add. But the fair comparison is someone just wanting to play online, and paying out each year. If you plan on having your 360 for 4 years, that's over $200 right there. So even an Arcade after 4 years has cost as much as an 80gb PS3 with Wifi. The Pro is then over $100 more than the 80gb PS3 with wifi as well.

Value isn't the same for each person. To a technophile like me having a PS3 before a 360 is a no brainer. I have a Blu-ray player, internet functionality, media streaming capabilities, synching to my PSP, etc.. If you don't want these things, just games, then yeah the PS3 is fricking expensive compared to the XBox.

I eventually want a 360 for my own, but I'm not buying into LIVE. Their wireless adapter is a joke since you can get one for under $30. Repairs costs are a case by case basis anymore, so we shouldn't include those. I think the XBox's best value is the Arcade sku since the Pro and Elite doesn't add more in my opinion.

For me, the XBox is more in need of a price drop than the PS3.

The 360 has had a hardware issue and the PS3 can break down and saying it is more likely it won't or "chances are" it won't doesn't help the people that get the YLOD or 40 gig models that had batches of PS3's Blu-Ray players go out. They can give two sh*ts how much you shake your fist in the air about the reliability of their PS3's when it is money out of their pocket to fix. At least the 360 offers a 3 year RROD warranty. We didn't get anything close to that with the PS2. I own both consoles and haven't had RROD on the 3 I own or YLOD on the 80gig I have had since 07. Out of the 3 360's I own one of them is a Dec 05 launch.

I bought the 80 GB Motorstorm bundle awhile back (it was obviously expensive but very worth it). I got a deal on a 360 recent an arcade for 150 (with an extra controller and 2 games) and I upgraded to a 120 GB HDD so that around 280. Now, if I want all the features the PS3 has then that would cost even more (Seriously $120 for 120 GB is insane but I needed it. You can probably get a 500 GB HDD for that amount of money for your ps3).

I bought the $200 360 arcade version and it hasn't even hiccuped since the 8 months I've had it. Xbox Live costs like $35 for 12months + 1month bonus free, so 13 month in total. And sht, for wireless, you can just buy a $5 50ft ethernet cable, sht. I don't worry about paying to fix my XBOX 360 because I had the presence of mind to buy a warranty from Best Buy when I got it. I can return the 360 as many times as I want during the first year and during the second year of the warranty, if I exchange it, I have to buy a new warranty. Which, I actually didn't because of the price drop so I got a brand new 360, a new 2 year warranty and a $48 gift card. And there was nothing wrong with my 360 either. I just exploited the warranty.

my question is, why last gen this was never a problem with the PS2 having accessories,I had to buy multi taps to play with more than 2 people,i had to but the Ethernet adapter just to play online an i had to buy memory cards to save game on the PS2. on my original xbox the Ethernet was built it, the 4 player controller ports were but in an the HDD was standard built in so no need to buy memory cards, an you know what!! none of that mattered because the PS2 just steamed rolled the xbox. an I think people are misunderstanding the true nature of the "140 million PS2's sold" I bought 4 PS2's 3 big ones(2 DRE) 1 slim, I even had a PS2 in my car. everybody keeps talking about 360 re buys what do you think was happening with the PS2, there was NOT 140 million INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE that bought PS2's.

the first three years of xbox 360 repairs arent free. Only the rrod problems are free. it cost me almost 300 in repairs in my first 3 years with insurance. i had the rrod twice and that is free. get your facts straight . the only reason why xbox has so many systems is cause people like me have had 14 of them. i hate m$ for their crap systems but i like the competition theu provide sony because without them sony would be the only hd system on the market.

A real heater has thermostat control so at least you can control how hot it gets.

Been through 4 xbox 360's myself and thus far my first ps3 is still running like a dream and has gone 10 hours or more straight in a heated room and barely gets warm just shows the more effort and eye to detail Sony put into there designs as I would'nt dare try running a 360 that way.

I take it right into best buy and use my replacement plan. I'm home in an hour and back to gaming. I understand if you are truly dirt poor and have to go through all that but if you can spend a couple hundred and change on a new system, pay the 49.99 and get a 2 year replacement plan.

the reason Im commenting on this article is for the simple fact that everybody is expecting the ps3 to get a price cut when in fact the ps3 has always cheaper than the xbox 360 even at its 599$ original retail price. like come on everyone knows this but are cheap as hell. ps3 comes with wifi! recalling for the 360 you have to buy a part that cost 99$ plus the ps3 does more than just gaming , you get basicly a desktop aswell which is approving more and more every year and adding more and better features. oh and one dude brung up the xbox live cost put it together it does add up . i had my ps3 since launch which is 3 year meaning if sony had a simular cost i would have gave them an additional 150$ while i already pay 50$/month to have internet in my house ? so add 50$/month+99$ saying i got an xbox from launch and that gives you a total sum of 349$+200$+100$ equaling 649$!!!!!! SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE DOLLARS NOT INCLUDING TAX. MORE THAN THE PS3 EVER COST !!!! =). but we are talking about current times so just take off a hundred and the xbox live from launch and the cost of an xbox 360 is 400 $... and everyone getting at the psn to xbl STOP LOOKING TO GET THE FAST QUARTER AND INSTED GO FOR THE SLOW NICKLE. thats all im saying .

No matter how you comapair them in sales Wii is in first... xbox 360 is in second..and last but not least is the Lame PS3 booohoooo

Isn't the whole point of games and consoles is to just pick them up whenever and enjoy them? I have loved games since I was a kid and played on the NES on most consoles all the way to the 360 and ps3. Sadly I never owned any Atari consoles or the Saturn but I did own the rest of Sega's consoles then when PlayStation came out I was in love. <3

As it stands I own both a PS3 and a 360 and although I enjoy my ps3 more I won't sell my 360 and no I do not care about online play; mmo's sucked enough life from so I don't want to get hooked playing online again. lol

So here is the correct calculation with realistic prices. Sorry i took European Prices but i converted it to Dollar at the end:

PS3 80 GB Bundle with Game 399 € (a good game of choice)
PS3 Dualshock 3 Controller 46 € (who wants to play alone?)
HDMI Cable 10 €(hey i have a FullHD Console, so please dont put only chinch in the package)

455 € or 635 $

Xbox 360 120 GB Elite 249 €(with 2 decent Games)
Xbox Wireless Controller 33 € (jup, i dont want to play alone here too.)
Xbox Live Gold 34 € (For those who play online)
Xbox Wifi 60 € (Cable is a better Connection, but for thoose who cannot put a cable into the room)

376 € or 525 $

so please- the Xbox is with all the Stuff Cheaper as the PS3 with less HD capacity, without a 2nd Controller and without the HDMI Cable. But its a good Console anyway.

To add the repair cost is nonsense. And Sonys costs are higher here, so i dont understand why this was not stated in the arcticle.

On the outside MS looks like they're doing very well but on the inside MS is completely falling apart. Many members of the Xbox division have quite due knowing about all these major problems MS is going through, you wouldn't believe it but MS are loosing money with every 360 sold and they're loosing much more then Sony.
