VGC E3 2009: Preview: R.U.S.E.

VGC writes: "One of the highlights for me this year at Ubisoft's E3 conference was a trailer for a game that apparently everyone else had already seen at GDC earlier this year, Eugen Systems developed R.U.S.E. Some of you may be familiar with the trailer, but if you're not I've posted it below. So in an E3 filled with motion controllers and odd peripherals, I wasn't surprised to find out that this game was being created for the Microsoft Surface. So while the game may have looked incredible, the response from many of my peers was "That's the best game that no one will ever get to play." But wouldn't you know as I was walking through the show room floor on the last day of the event that I would stumble across a demo of the game."

Dante’s inferno is awesome. Great game.

If they would add Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge and Ninja Gaiden 2 to BC I'd jazz my pants.

I'm waiting for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1 to come to BC.

What a great game LoS was.

Switch4One2845d ago

And out of nowhere as well! It really had no business being as good as it was.

True, it's rare to play a game with moderate to no expectations then have your mind blown away!

The unfortunate thing is that at the time many reviewers were not kind to it because it did Castlevania differently and because it copied from God of War. i found those reviews sad because they missed a great game for stupid reasons. Same for Dante's Inferno.

One thing is for sure, we were the lucky ones 👍🏻

Switch4One2844d ago

I immediately got a God of War vibe but it was done so well that I didn't care that it deviated from the series so much.
The story, the setting, the Sir Patrick Stewart, the gameplay, all wonderful!

Don't forget the music it is amazing.

I thought the same and that's what those journslists keep missing. Games copy from each other all the time and since the begining, GoW itself borrowed from games like Devil May Cry and Rygar but it is the excution that should also count and everything about this game was top quality.

Nice to see a fellow gamer who enjoyed the same rare gems.

Surprised that RUSE has been added. Wasn’t that game taken off Steam and the Microsoft Store a few years back due to publisher rights issues?

Halo Wars 2 and 5 Strategy Games for Console That Also Weren't Rubbish

OX writes: "Halo Wars 2 is a Halo game in which instead of controlling one big space soldier, you control lots of little space soldiers from high above the battlefield. It's a real-time strategy game, yes. But aren't strategy games on consoles always terrible? Not always, as we discover in Show of the Week."

10) Disgeae 4: A promise Unforgotten

7) Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention

5) Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice

Two problems with this

Detention was a PSV game and in what world was Disgaea 3 better than 4?

Godmars2904886d ago

Because as you can probably guess this was a badly put together and researched list. Was basically just every STG title to appear or be talked about by Sony.

Loved Deadblock and Awesomenauts especially - but I'm glad to see that Plants vs ZOmbies was tops! I was so excited when this was added to PS+, and really I feel that just about anyone can jump into it. Not too over the top military, great gameplay and simple mechanics.

Glad to see at least one of these comments offers something meaningful to the discussion!
