Honestly, I don't see Sony going back to the 1st spot. I see them having 2nd but not 1st. And in all honesty it's a shame.... The potential behind the Sylum Battle Cruiser that is the PS3 is getting it's ass whopped by casual gamers. As long as Nintendo has Oprah and Beyonce backing them up, they can't lose. :(

I wish Nintendo will go back and make a real console that's meant for gamers. Then, the tides will change. :D

Yearly Xbox sells 10.3 million units

Sony is Selling more ps3s in the same timeframe as Microsoft is selling Xbox 360s.
If the PS3 was out at the same time as Xbox 360 the sales would be theoretically speaking....

I also do the same for blu-ray discs for my PS3 as well as streaming media. when I look for a game for my 360 I have to think, Will I be able to finish it before it kills itself? Some multi-plats look better but, I know I will be able to finish them on the PS3. That is why I ONLY get exclusives for the 360 now. If you disagree with me please explain your reasoning. there is nothing worse than a nutless wonder with no counterpoint.

I've given Sony my fair share of sh*t the past few years but wtf is this? After KZ2, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, GT5 and GOW III being some of the best looking and playing games ever I am confused to what he is talking about.

I didn't bother reading the article. But it's amusing how someone's fanboyism against another console can be easily cured if he just goes out and buys one. You might hate the 360 or you might hate the PS3, but you could possibly go out and buy one and suddenly you will no longer hate it. You might still prefer one over the other or you might still dislike one console a bit, but as the owner of both you will feel satisfied knowing that if a game comes out for either console, you will not be left out in the rain. There are two types of people in the world. And I'm going to use an Aesop fable to back me up here.

Type A: A fox is running through the woods and is very hungry. He looks up and sees a delicious bird sitting high up in a tree, chirping merrily to itself. The fox eyes the bird hungrily, but also looks wearily at the height of the tree. Laziness wins over its hunger and the fox trudges off, saying to himself, "The bird probably doesn't taste good at all, anyways."

Type B: An inch worm wriggling around the ground below the very same tree the bird chirps merrily on thinks to itself that it needs to find safe shelter during the coming winter. Type A is the fanboy. Let's not try to be like him, finding faults in a game or spreading lies simply because he does not have the patience to save up money to buy the console it's on. It's sad, because I've seen fanboys from both sides and none of them impress me, whether with ten dollar words or childish rants. Some are so blatant, like Why Dis and Morganfell; others are subtle, like Raztad and probably this bloodmask fellow here.

Well I'll see with my own eyes how Sony is gonna fight back. I'll be @ GamesCom at the end of August and seen the latest rumours that Sony is launching the slim PS3 at the end of August/beginning of September, it has to be announced with new pricing @ GamesCom and not TGS...

Oh, and by the way, the psp go doesn't interest me, considering I have a psp already. Sony will eventually bring the price down to 199.99 after Christmas. That 249.99 price will be for the suckers that don't own one already and they will have their money out near the holidays, lol!

If you want to be taken seriously, stop sounding like an uneducated buffoon.

for companies like Sony, Microsoft, Apple or even a Google when coming into the gaming industry. If another competitor came in, say an Apple iPlay, everyone would conceivably lose some market share. That is what happened, Microsoft entered the industry.

If this is going to be a long product cycle for all consoles, then I think talk like this is especially tired and worthless. Because once the next generation starts, we reset to zero. Everybody has to bring it all over again. In many way XBox, Sony and Nintendo are already thinking about the next generation.

Maybe Apple is too.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
