Many gamers have been heated when the confirmation broke out yesterday about Starcraft 2 not supporting lan. So furious that over 7,000 fans have signed a petition to Blizzard to add Lan support. Today, Blizzard reps have made a few posts defending their decision and addressing concerns fans may have.

Blizzard has yet to really disappoint me but can't say the same about Activision.

Secondly, an internet connection going down or lagging is 10x more likely than power going out and 100x more likely than a blackout!

Nikuma6176d ago

I would love to say blizz has yet to disappoint me but the way they ruined a once wonderful game (WoW) is really unsettling...

Thugbot1876176d ago

Really dispointed, bad enough we had to wait over 10 years for a game we all love and supported, to only get the back seat to WOW.

tilamiles6177d ago

I've always had crappy bnet experience in the past, especially with the original SC. I hope bnet 2.0 won't be the same.

jdktech20106176d ago

You don't think in the 4+ years (not really sure how long it's been) that techonological advances haven't occurred? I'm sure it will be fine. Blizzard wouldn't do this unless they had full confidence in 2.0

OrganicMachine6176d ago

still happy about pirating games?

silencedisturber6176d ago

I think it would do Blizzard better, by trusting their community. They have a huge community to build upon (especially with the SC-community). Removing LAN could, and partially did, come off as disrespecting this community. And I sincerely hope this community will respond well in the end, since those will probably be the first ones who'd buy the game. This could affect Blizzard possibly even more.

Now, I understand developers and publishers need this gigantic profit, to work on other quality projects. But the way Blizzard deals with this problem with SC2, looks to me as a step backwards (just as EA did with RA3-Coop). Good games as Starcraft 2 (which it no doubt will be) will always sell, not at least thanks to die-hard fans of various series and devs. Removing LAN will mostly effect them who love you the most.

Nevertheless, the way I see it, this could be a very dynamite show!

You =/= PC Gamer

or

You = Young little kid

Starcraft is the most refined and simply best RTS game I have EVER played. Nothing comes close. You obviously don't like RTS games to not like Starcraft.

Rainne6176d ago

I love RTS however I never did like StarCraft either. I have the game but I stopped playing after a week. But who knows, maybe SC2 will do the trick for me.

STK0266176d ago

yeah, because SC is the be all end all of PC gaming right?
It never crossed your mind that not everyone likes RTS in the first place, and that SC is a rather basic one (when compared to more complex ones like CoH to name one).

Also, some people, like me, preferred the CnC RTS over SC and Warcraft. Same goes for AoE.

kwicksandz6176d ago

Total annihilation > star craft.

more refined gameplay? GTFO

and it and the spiritual sequel sup com both support LAN ^^

isn't it just great to see that 7000 obsessed ( and obviously legitimate fans and no doubt first day buyers of starcraft)'s pleas have fallen of ears that aren't dear but are stuffed with wow money, there are many ways around piracy...activation with an activation key that you get online after registering your cd key (and checks if the cd key is registered to another person) examples being dead space, far cry 2, i'm yet to see reports of a keygen for that, and you can revoke your activation key whenever you like.

taking a major part of an rts game out is wrong

dktxx26176d ago

Cd keys have been around forever. They protect against nothing.

Google is all you need and any crack you want is a click away.

Nihilism6176d ago

i said ACTIVATION key which is obtained with your cd key....it verifies online. and yes everything has a crack, drm, and i'm sure someone will create a way to make LAN possible, but why should someone else have to when it should be available

'StarCraft: Remastered', 'StarCraft II' Now Available on PC Game Pass

This week, Blizzard Entertainment dropped both 'StarCraft: Remastered' and 'StarCraft II Campaign Collection' into PC Game Pass.

meganick567d ago

Hopefully these get released on Switch and Playstation, along with Age of Empires. There’s a severe lack of good RTS games on both those platforms.

waytoobad565d ago

if only they didn't raise the price 500% last year.

Let the COD on GamePass experiment begin!
I would think their quarterly revenue will take a hit compared to a year ago, but will maybe make up for it throughout the year as the monthly GP subs keep coming in

pwnmaster3000590d ago

Was up with call of duty man?
I downloaded cod on gamepass and for some reason I cannot access the game.

darthv72590d ago

just curious what version? There are some that you can pre-load, but they wont work until their release date later this month.

pwnmaster3000590d ago

I have to redownload it again for the 3rd time to check.
I ended up just deleting it to make room for other games after the second time.

It was on Xbox game pass, I didn’t know there was other versions. I just downloaded everything, but sadly I couldn’t even access the game. Maybe 3rd time the charm. I’ll download it again.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH590d ago

It’s not out yet man unless you’re talking about MW3.

pwnmaster3000590d ago

I’m talking about mw3. For some reason I could not get it to work.

just_looken590d ago

On xbox there is the last gen/current gen versions pc though you could also get a xbox version.

When that new forza first came out for one day they had the xbox version on the pc store i was like ? what it was odd.

On xbox you can easily download the one version of a game instead of the series version so you run into issues on your series console.

pwnmaster3000590d ago

Because a game won’t run after I download it??
Man your kids must hate your @ss if that’s how you think.

It's going to be very interesting to follow up on how the new entry of CoD will perform at the box office, player numbers and distribution of Xbox, PC and PS versions this year.

DivineHand125590d ago

I got excited thinking they ported StarCraft to consoles but it's just the PC version. Also, I thought Starcraft 2 was already free to play.

TheColbertinator590d ago

I'm certain it is going to be the Campaign Collection version.

$15 horse for WoW made more money than StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty

Jason Hall, currently an indie developer and former Blizzard employee, has been sharing some really interesting stories from his long career in the industry for a while now. Some of them are truly insightful, while others may seem depressing.

I’m a little shocked that StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty sold only around 6 million copies. The original StarCraft did over 11 million. Maybe Blizzard was too leisurely in releasing StarCraft 2? Starcraft 2 came out 12 years after it’s predecessor.

Plague-Doctor27926d ago (Edited 926d ago )

Im surprised too. Starcraft was still a huge name in 2010. It was kinda the only new RTS around and other genres like MOBAs hadn't really kicked off yet. I do remember at the time sentiment around the game was
pretty angry the game was being split into 3 but I doubt that would have impacted sales to that degree

Sciurus_vulgaris926d ago

For a long time I believed StarCraft II sold on par or better than its predecessor. There was so much hype for the game. Plus it had a pretty strong E-Sports scene for a few years.

Myself and half a dozen friends all bought StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and played it religiously for a full year. While I bought the expansions, most of my friends did not. RPGs seem to be a generally low selling genre.

Nerdmaster925d ago

I'm not shocked at all. This was an early example of Blizzard being greedy. Instead of releasing a complete experience, splitting Starcraft 2 in 3 parts so it could make us purchase it 3 times if we wanted to know the whole story and play story mode with the other races.

Sciurus_vulgaris925d ago

I originally had that stance. However, Wings of Liberty, was just as long, if not longer than StarCraft 1. The expansions were of decent length too and added a good amount of additional content.

il-JumperMT926d ago

and people wonder why we are having mtx in everything. i blame the people who actual buy them.

Nerdmaster925d ago

It's interesting he used Brazil as an example of the importance of regional pricing. Nowadays many companies on Steam are setting their prices in Brazil as high as, if not more than, their price in USA. I simply refused to buy a few games when I noticed that's the case.

Extermin8or3_925d ago

This right here is the fucking problem.
