pc gaming, gets the best of it all, i dont mind a good port, and multiplats, when done properly don't suffer at all on pc, eg. fallout 3 ( yes i know it had bugs, i mean graphically)

Sure, Exclusive games for a specific console may bring Fanboyism, but it sure brings the competition for the opposing console. Without exclusives there will be no competition, without competition there will be no good games.

exclusives are more important now more than ever, and developers going multiplat is the very reason why. if you can get every game on the other console the difference maker will be the games you can't get on the other console...same reason exclusives have remained and always will remain quintessential in determining which console is "better" than the other.

Of course exclusives matter. It's part of the reason people decide which system to purchase, and if they should by another console on top of the ones they already own.

I don't see how it matters what happens to exclusives. As long as console makers don't put out one unified machine, there will always be differences. Exclusive functionality is pretty much the same thing as exclusive games. Last time I checked the 360 doesn't play blu-ray, the PS3 can't log in to XBL, and the Wii won't have HD graphics. As long as those differences exist, someone is going to take advantage of them.

I don't care what system a developer chooses to make a game for but when they stick with one system the quality goes way up, but sales may suffer at first. Developers will be remembered for quality and sales will come as they build up fan base.

I personally want to GAME, I want the game to haunt me, challenge me, inspire me, quality over quantity, and don't chase the money.

What would be your console of choice? Their are pro and cons to each system, not just exclusive titles available. What features of your console of choice do you appreciate the most?

i care .. and i'm very happy with the 360 AND the PS3.

Sony has always the biggest exclusives and this time it makes no difference. i also can't wait for Alan Wake and Splinter Cell for the 360.

exclusives show the real power of a console (if in the right hands). look at Motorstorm, GT5:P, Mass Effect, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet, MGS4 .. all of these games look better than any multiplatform game because they've been made for a specific system.

people would STILL think that Unreal Engine 3 was the best gaming engine in the industry.

exclusives define a console, as well as push it to it's limits.

God of War 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 pushed the Playstation 2 to the brink of it's capabilities. seriously, NOBODY expected the PS2 could bring visuals like that to the table, especially with the Xbox being much more powerful than the PS2.

this generation, exclusives are paving the way again, truly showcasing what consoles can do, in particular with the PS3.

games like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword (still has the best facial and motion capture i've ever seen in a game), Killzone 2, and more just couldn't have shone the way they did if they were multi-plats.

the 360, while showing some impressive visuals, has been limited by reliance on Unreal Engine 3, and a 7.5gig Dual Layer DVD.

i've yet to see games on ANY other console top what the PS3 has been able to do this generation.

poorly designed multi-platform games are KILLING this generation *cough*Prototype*cough*any Activision game*cough*, while expertly designed exclusives are saving it (ie, games like Killzone 2, MGS4, and Uncharted 2).

i find it funny that in 2007, when the 360 had more exclusives than the PS3, it was all about the exclusives, and there was no point in getting a PS3, because you could get all the multi-plats on the 360 with Achievements.

now that the PS3 has beaten the 360 in terms of exclusive games (30 studios from Sony will always produce more content than the 5-6 studios MS has), and the multi-plays are LEAGUES better than they were in 07, when ports were atrocious (ie, Splinter Cell: Double Agent), suddenly exclusives don't matter, and it's all about "being fair" to everyone by releasing games on both platforms.

how about being "fair" to consumers who plunked down their hard earned cash for a 360 or PS3, and deserve to get games that push BOTH consoles to their limits, exclusive or otherwise?

i'd personally much rather have a developer take the time to master ONE console, learn it's intricacies, and maximize production, than have them focus on TWO consoles, and produce a game only a shadow of what it could have been had it been exclusive.

i'd LOVE to have Mass Effect 2 on my PS3, but it's being designed on the 360, so that's the console i'll be playing it on, and i guarantee it will be a better product because of the developers singular focus.

i imagine some sensible ppl will have cleared it up but...

exclusives are good because it means developers get to focus their efforts on 1 platform rather than trying to spread teams accross several platforms in order to try and get similar (if not identical) results.

Sure we've seen some amazing multi platform games but the reason i own a 360 and ps3 is because the exclusives on both look and play great. The only downside is having to own several consoles, but i tend to find the people who really care enough about wanting to play a game on a console they don't own, will eventually add that console and game to their collection

If there were no exclusives then what would be the pointing in owning 3 consoles ? infact if there were no exclusives id love to see Sony, Nintendo & MS come together it would stop all the b!tching and save everyone the money and hastle

I care very much, most of the games I want are exclusive. Multiplatform games this gen have all been... missing something. I dunno, I haven't enjoyed them as much as exclusive games.

I care a lot. After all, exclusives is how buying a consoles should be decided. But in my view, nothing can beat an exclusive from Naughty Dog or Insomniac so the PS3 wins there.

Exclusives do matter. They sort of act like the mascots of their respective consoles. Kratos for Playstation. Master Chief for Xbox. Solid Snake for Playstation. Marcus Fenix for Xbox. Exclusives give their consoles identity. If every game was a multiplat then gamers would treat consoles with less admiration. I admire the PS3 for all of its mascots. I admire the 360 for it's growing list of mascots. It's getting to the point where I imagine both brands will have a well-rounded list of exclusives in the future. The Xbox is playing catch-up, but who knows what MS has up its sleeves.
