I think this list is kind of insulting to anyone "really" into PC gaming.
Especially since as a group they tend to WANT TO tweak and get the most out of the $$$ they spent.
You dont need to do any of it to play Chuzzles though.

The key to having a PC game that also appears on consoles, is to have better hardware than the consoles have. A modern Core 2 Duo PC coupled with at least 2GB of RAM is almost guaranteed to run a game better than the consoles. It also doesn't hurt to have a video card that has at LEAST 256MB of RAM for HD textures and resolutions. 512MB is better for 1280x1024 which is a standard 17" monitor resolution. Anything higher like 1680x1050 which qualifies as HD resolution, much more RAM is needed. I run a GTX 285 which has 1GB of RAM and games run extremely well at said resolution because of the increased RAM. As well, my quad-core processor is capable of running many threads at once. The key on the consoles is optimization. Making sure things run well on the hardware provided is key to the console experience. I can play Overlord on my PC and it runs without a flaw. Making it run in a closed environment takes work. Many companies have done it well, and I hope that others do it well.

I have to disgree with you. I have a quite good computer. Core 2 duo with 4GB ram and 1GB graphics card, but it is easily outperformed by my playstation. A perfect exapmle is Far Cry 2. It run much smoother and with more detail on my playstation than on my computer. Too bad the game sucked 8(
Anyway I usually stick to my playstation for games now, except for PC games like Left 4 Dead and RTS games. But shooter games are for my ps3 (say what you want but i love the controller)

thats just to slow to even use all of its memory. Manufacturers sell old cards with 1 gig of memory to trick noobs.

mcgrawgamer6201d ago

agreed. I know guys how have bought 9400 and 9500's thinking they can run certain games only to have choppy framerates on a lot of games. They didn't do the proper research. A lot of pc gaming noobs don't know on the Nvidia side that the first number represents the cards generation.

I had to explain to them having a 9400 or 9500 is just like having a 84 or 8500. If you're not running a 8800, 9800, or higher you're wasting money. Hence the reason many people who would like to get into pc gaming think it's too expensive, and I tell em any hobby is expensive if you don't do the research to find out the proper information.

people buy card after card. people by ram without checking mobo req's. people buy cpu's without getting their socket number and when they spend 50 bucks on up only to realize they bought the wrong product they want to bash pc gaming.....

ObviousTruth6201d ago

you're crazy.

FarCry 2 was a game i really wanted to test out to make sure my PC gaming experience was worth the expense.

My friend, at the time, had a crappy lap top that couldn't play any games so he got farcry for ps3. i had him bring it over while i ran it on my PC. even when i turned the settings below what i would say is about medium, there was still a pretty noticeable difference in quality. The pc version still had a better draw distance and the plants, up close, had more detail. Then, when i cranked it back up to max settings it was night n day. From the character models, to the textures, to the car models, the way the light would bleed through the foliage, to the physical interactions in the environment. There is simply no way console can compete with pc on these high end games.

Though i do still think FC2 is one of the best looking games, if not the best looking game, on console.

These are like the dummy steps you'd get calling customer service or something.

"First, make sure you own a computer and that it is plugged in and running."

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing50d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9250d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit50d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing50d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9250d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
