The sixaxis/dual shock is good for people with tiny hands. I think the size of the 360 controller is just about right for everyone, although I'd actually want it to be just a little bigger.

I don't have big hands yet there wasn't even enough grip to hold my fingers my ring fingers and pinkies on both hands were hanging off the end and gave me a cramp. The Xbox 360 controller was designed to fit the human hand as best as possible while the PS3 controller is just a Dual Shock with motion control and no rumble. Not saying its a bad design its just not as good.

PS2 or Sixaxis controller is better than the 360 to play games like street fighter and games where the Dpad is a better option. Sixaxis suffer the same problem that the PS2 controller had for FPS or gamers where the analog sticks are to be used. I remember having to shake my hands after playing some games on the PS2, my hands would hurt and get numbed.
Also, by having the sticks too low, reaching for the shoulder buttons and trigger is a pain specially for games where they have to be constantly used. What? You are going to tell me you didn't remap the buttons for games like street fighter in order to not have to use the shoulder buttons and triggers?

unless youve tried both controllers to play all the way through one game of every genre one both ps3 and 360 you cant compare controllers

The battery pack on the back of the 360 controller is horrible and restricts the controller of grip as you have to stick fingers in between the battery pack and controller

The wired controller is better in my opinion as its lighter and has no battery pack but its wired so it loses as wires are annoying

I have never been that big on the playstation controller, i was really hoping that they would make a different shaped one. I preferred the gamecube's and xbox's one(i dont mean the first one that came out.

But i do have to say i like the 360 controller the best. If I'm going to have all three consoles, i want one console with a controller with out motion sensitivity.

Coming from someone who has played and beat RFOM and has played GOW on the Xbox 360. The 360 controller is much better and feels better when it comes to long gaming sessions. The PS3 controller is extremely light I couldn't believe how light it was. It felt like I could crush the controller with my bare hands. The 360 controller on the other hand just feels more durable and the thumb sticks are in perfect positions.

he means the feeling of durability not actual durability what he means is that some light and small feels my fragile then something heavier and fits your hands better.

The buttons in no way correspond to whats on screen even if using motion sensing.

That would be great for FPS games and the like.

I'm waiting for Microsoft or Sony to make a controller with a rotating section in it, so you can switch the positions of the stick with the D-Pad and vice versa. The PS-layout is superior for fighting games, and 2-d shooter type games, and I'm sure it would be a godsend on the XBox Live Arcade.

Conversely, the 360 controller is as close to perfect as I've held, good weight, good positioning of the analog stick, and a solid feel make it a perfect fit for FPS and 3PS games.

A "Hardcore" gamer would have all of the systems and nothing to b!tch about.
EDIT: It doesn't make you any less of a gamer but if you are a "Hardcore Gamer" you wouldn't dislike any of the systems unless of course they are crap. And with all the current systems they all have their pluses with the exception of the 360's hardware which can and hopefully will be fixed in the elite.

It's okay to have only one of these systems but fanboyism is not a requirement.

The 360 controller is ergonomically designed. It allows players' hands and wrists to stay in a natural, relative position.

I'll give you an example: while sitting at a table or desk, place your hands in front of you, pinky-sides down, thumb-sides up. Move your hand to a position approximately eight inches apart. Relax. Your hands and wrists will stay in the approximately same position. Natural.

This is also the position your hands would be in if you were holding the 360 controller. Good ergonomic design.

Try the same with a PS controller and you will find that you will need to move your hands into a position where your wrists are angled inwards towards each other. Un-natural. Bad ergonomics.

The 360 controller is by far, the most comfortable of the two. Personal preferences fall to either side of a bell curve, but the majority of users prefer the 360's feel.

Apparently when they were designing the new ps3 controller...the boomerang one, westeners loved it. But in Asia it was not so hot and mainly because Westerners tend to have bigger hands. I feel the controller for the ps3 is pretty much world wide reaching and is very good for people with smaller hands, including children.

Which controller you like is completly individual, I dont like the left analog stick on the 360 controller and for me the PS controller is perfect. For others its reversed, thats why we have variety

Being a guy with big hands, I'm probably one of the few people that LIKED the original Xbox1 controller the best. I was the only one of my friends who'd even touch it, but it just felt comfortable, and to this day I hate using the smaller Xbox versions. I had PS1, PS2, and now PS3 though, so the Sony controller feels familiar in my hands. And I liked it better than Xbox's because the four shoulder buttons made more sense (to me) than having to contort my thumb to find the black and white buttons (again, larger hands, longer thumb).

Maybe it's because of the length of my fingers, but I've never had ergonomic issues with the Sony controllers. Still wouldn't mind a larger controller, but it either fits well in my hands, or I've become adapted to holding one after 10 years or so.

Anybody who's actually used both knows that the '360 pad is far superior, especially during long sessions of play.

I think it's all personal opinion. Really. There's no point arguing about it because everyone has their own preferences on what controller they use. For example, I actually like the GameCube controller a lot. It had a good feel to it, just not enough buttons. Damn shame.

And I'm sick of articles like this that make such a big deal out of "stealing" the parts or games of a console and putting them on another. Seriously, no one cares if you can use SIXAXIS with a 360 controller or play Gears on a PS3. Just shut up.

360 pad is better in my opinion dude up there is right the 360s pad takes some getting use to being set up off beat(stick lay out) the Dual Shocks pads are worse reaching all the way down to use the sticks with a primative shape that is too small.

Anologe is much better with the 360s pad and the pressure sensitive triggers give gamers a much richer,deeper gameplay experiance than just having 4 bumpers like the PS3 pad.

This is one of the reason that has held me back from the PS3. The controllers for play station have been the same and I never really liked them. Then came the xbox and I was like I can really get use to these controls. And now the 360 controllers are just perfect. My 5yr old son perefers the 360 also. When he plays his PS2 he asks me if the 360 can work on his playstation and I tell him no. We all know egronomics plays a big part on any thing that is made and I think MS hit dead on with there controllers.

Sony fans are now trying to make 360 pads work on the PS3. You guys really wish your PS3's were as good as 360's don't you =P

It is Modeled after the Dreamcast, if anybody noticed. I used to like the Dual-Shock, but it does not put your thumbs in the natural position like the 360 Pad.

On the 360 Pad you can have your thumb in the Natural position and still be able to touch the D-PAD with the ball of your thumb, and the Analog with the tip, without having to reposition your thumb everytime.

The "Ps3's SixAxis" is great for fighting games, because it has a better D-PAD, and ofcourse you don't need the analog when pulling off combos.(ala Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat)

The keyboard fits perfectly for the Xbox 360 and it doesn't interfere at all on how the 360 D-PAD is held.(this is the best upgrade yet), I think it will be the best Controller out there that offers everything at your finger tips.Can we say, Seamless Integration.

Seems like to me, when you use the Keyboard to type on the 360 D-PAD, you thumbs becomes in the same position as it would be on the PS3 Analog buttons on the Ps3's SixAxis.

So when does this Controller come out?...Ha

Sorry, but does anyone actually remember the controller that launched with the original Xbox? It was like a giant plastic hamburger. Only when the S-type was released was it at all comfortable to use the console.

Well, that's not the discussion, don't let me get ahead of myself. At this point I think everyone here is just squabbling over the controllers merely as a way of squabbling over console quality. I doubt and Sony lovers would spout the 360's praises, and vice versa.

360 CONTROLLER HAS NICE RUMBLE EFECT, BUT STIFFENS YUR HANDS DURING LONG PERIODS OF GAME PLAY. SIXAXIS FEELS SMOOTH LIKE IT'S MEANT 2 BE IN YUR HANDS, LACK VIBERATIONS! I THINK THE PS2 CONTROLLER SHOULD BE THE WINNER!

PS1,2 and 3 control pads are not ergonomically designed. There are too many edges, main controls are too small and bunched-up together. Many players know this and it's not a matter of preferences ( accept it !! ), Sony in a way forgot how to properly build a good control pad for every console they have since the PS1 - still the same today ( only minor, and stupid revisions - rumble gone, and now could be back again ( download on some racing games ?!?!! )...at least w/ the XBox they'ved learnt from the mistakes of their first control pad ( as big as a burger, even bigger?! ) and made revisions and improved on the 360.

Well it does say the shape, and PS's shape is more aesthetically pleasing, despite the better 360 ergonomic design for many. However, you don't have to grip the Dualshock/Sixaxis, it rests in your hands just fine, and you can reposition your fingers easily so that the index and middle are on the shoulders with the pinky and ring on the handles. It's very symmetrical, I've never gotten cramps...ever, nor has the controller ever slipped out of my hands. (How do you guys manage those?)

But my biggest praise is for the analog sticks. Perfect placement on the PS controllers, your thumbs rest in that position naturally and you shouldn't have to reach into the top left. I sometimes hear that this is wrong because people use analog sticks now instead of the D-pad, and this is why they've swapped places, but how do you explain Too Human? That one has extensive use of the right analog, yet no swapped face buttons positioning. No use complaining.

They have the best all around controller for fighting games ,spors and fps. I think personally best for fighting games.If it aint brok dont fix it

I love my sixaxis controller even sans rumble, duh! But I do not object to this hybrid controller. I think it's innovative, fresh and shows that both of these companies have something owned or borrowed by the other in some form or fashion and it's not all terrible. Just imaginge the possibilities, the grandeur and the doors opened by the collective cooperation between these two giants if they worked outright on a project together. Oh yeah and mods aren't a bad way to show off either.lol

Now, repackaging PS3's in different black cases, adding more HDD space and calling them XBox Elites is just going a li'l too far for me though. I mean I've heard of stealing a winner before but this is ridiculous. J/K J/K J/K =]

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
