When people sit back and reminisce about the late Michael Jackson (he passed away today at age 50), they will more than likely recall his musical career as the King of Pop, and rightly so. But he also had a presence in the gaming world. His songs transcended the music scene to influence videogames in a form not many artists can claim.
In the early '90s, Jackson was close with Sega, appearing at several charity events with the publisher and making a visit to their Japan headquarters (some believe that he even inspired Sonic the Hedgehog's character design). Jackson's love for gaming culture became public knowledge when a significant portion of his collection was auctioned off earlier this year. Join 1UP as they take a quick look at his influences.

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

A three-episode live-action adaptation of the first two Yakuza video games will debut Tuesday, March 17 exclusively IGN. Each episode is about an hour long and will stream on IGN.com and IGN’s YouTube channel.
huh
wasn't aware he had an influence om gaming
Genuinely shocked. Not a hardcore follow of Micheal Jackson, I know he may of done wrong (no proof) and was quite weird and alarmingly eccentric, but I appreciate his contributions to music and influence on popular culture. He certainly won't be forgotten.
I shall beat moonwalker for you.
I didn't cry but I could have. His death certainly effected my day though. Been watching CNN since 4:00 watching all the flashbacks.
P.s. That LBP video in the link is hilarious when the guy starts shaking lol.
