Capcom wont stop supporting Sony, its actually the opposite. They love Sony. Why? go to the PlayStation Store and see for yourself. They actually prefer the PSN over live just because the lack of Size restriction on putting PSN games at the store. not to mention they have their own Store Page on the PSN. More companies should follow suit and start putting their small games/ arcade ports on there.

Activision thought their statement would cause a ripple affect and get other companies to follow suit. Wrong guess again. I like COD but I wouldn't miss the series either.

Bad Company online was ultimately more fun then playing COD4's multiplayer. Although singleplayer is a different story, I have no problem with missing out on COD.

Activision is playing poker with Sony they'll stop porting games to the Playstation and the PSP if the price does not go down I say go ahead i don't play COD or Guitar Hero on my PS3 and after playing Prototype I am not impressed Sony has a better first party development and companies like Capcom blow Activison out of the water games wise. Activision is not even that big of a company when comparied to EA, Capcom, Atari or even Square. Now if EA threatened to stop the support of the Playstation brand I would be worried but for Activision to do it I could careless.

Even Chinatown Wars PSP (which will sell 1m in 3 days worldwide) is coming! And Agent was the biggest exclusive announcement at E3 09 regardless of delusional MS fans. :p

Go ahead and do it Activision. There are PLENTY of developers to fill in the gap, as well as Sony's own first and second party studios.

They will probably make less money now but it will guarantee that Sony take under consideration the impact of making a console to support their format war agenda.

It will ensure that the next platform is priced at a price that will give developers a larger install base for their games.. and they do not have to spend 2-3 times more money and just trying to make their game work on the PS3.

If developers do not share their concerns and act accordingly... what will stop Sony from making the same mistakes and assumptions they made with the PS3 in future consoles?

I guess developers forget quickly what happened to many of them when Nintendo screwed them up back when the N64 came out. Specially when Nintendo ensure that 1st party games enjoyed of resources and knowledge in order to ensure 1st party had the edge.

Developers are as important as the gamers... 3rd party developers are as important as 1st and in many cases sometimes even more important than 1st. Many of us old enough have seem this pattern before... where the console maker start undermining 3rd parties and using their first parties to overshadowed 3rd parties... eventually 3rd party developers start complaining... the console maker starts undermining their complains...

I hope activision has the balls to follow through... it's clear that Sony nor their fanboys think activision is important enough to pay attention to.

As I said before.. Microsoft should take advantage of this situation and strike a deal with activision.

Making Rockband and Call of Duty are both bigger in terms of sales than any PS3 games... and having them as exclusive will do some serious damage to the PS3 brand...

has more talent in the PINKIE finger of their developers than the entirety of Activision, so if Capcom were to pull support for Playstation platforms, i'd be worried (for the most part, i enjoy their games, though not nearly as much as, say, Konami, or Square-Enix - when Square is actually on point with game quality).

besides, Monster Hunter is like the PSP's ho: the PSP sends it out into the world to make it a buttload of money, and it does, in the millions.

Capcom would be foolish to drop support of Sony, just like Activision would be, so NEITHER will.

Bobby hasn't even SPOKEN to anyone since that comment. Doesn't look like he's going to retract it. He's got the press he wanted, but it's not good press. Not too many of those that are usual 360 media whores bought the statement as being a good one to make. It was VERY idiotic, it did nothing but alienate gamers (who are angry that Acti doesn't care about any of them), and it's being considered empty. And now we have Capcom saying "yeah, right, Acti. We're going to actually CARE about gamers".

MY thought is that Bobby REALLY needs to say something to clear up this mess, because that's what this has turned into. Other companies are saying it was dumb to make (and we can ALL agree that Sony needs to drop the PS3 price, but it was stupid to threaten people like that). It's Acti's black eye that can only be remedied by Bobby either apologizing or resigning.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
