3 Reasons Project Natal Will Change Gaming Forever.

"Project Natal could be the future of gaming, and it may very well open up many more avenues for gaming to take, however some are concerned that Natal may push the casual market forward to the point where it's over saturated with repetitive sports games. Is Project Natal another attempt from Microsoft to push out the hardcore gamers? If not what can we expect on release, and indeed in the future. Today I take a look at 3 reasons why the Microsoft Xbox 360 Project Natal Device could work, and could change gaming as we know it. "

lol Look at everyone writing articles about Natal and trying to get hits.

Jim Hawking6192d ago (Edited 6192d ago )

I think I'm going crazy. Let me put it this way.

The following game types can't be played accurately with the Natal:

Shooters (FPS, TPS)
Fighting games (how the hell would you pull off something like a backflip?)
Non arcade racers (How do you handbrake vs foot brake)
Hack N Slash games
MMORPGs (Or anything else with a lot of controls)
Flight Games

This can at best be a neat little add-on (Like the eyetoy), not the future of gaming. If this is the future of gaming, SHOOT ME.

I'm not that exited about this Natal thing, i mean i never liked the Wii why would i like this. This could make the X360 more appealing for the Casual market, but i dont see how this could benefit us hardcore gamers, i just hope MS don't go the Nintendo way. I love my X360 but i'll be the first one to "jump out".

eagle216192d ago (Edited 6192d ago )

I think natal will "change" only xbox games forever....lol

Jim Hawking6192d ago

With the Wii you at least have an analog stick to move a character around a 3d space. How would you do that with the natal? You cant walk forward or anything like that, unless they could ensure that the 3d space was the size of your room.

Jesus, How did I not notice that? This completely invalidates this whole thing for me.

IdleLeeSiuLung6192d ago (Edited 6192d ago )

Instead of adapting current game play and move entirely over, how about new game play? Heck, what about combining them?

Why does it have to be one or the other?

As long as developers follow the one rule, I think we will be ok?

how do people know that NATAL won't work?
the thing is not even out yet people....

You know, who is to say that there wont be some sort of controler that is added with it at sometime, all this does is open the door. Being able to scan your skateboard in, or how about just being able to put you completely in the game, making your player for tiger woods would be simple, just scan you in, your outfit and all, the fact that voice commands could add something to a game like splinter cell without a stupid headset. There is no way that this completely takes over for a controler, but just think of the posibilities. It doesn't have to be the complete controler for every game, but it would be great for your sports games. How about using it to shoot a basketball in nba live, left hand has a controler to move the player but you pass and shoot with your hands. I just hate how everyone is just crying about, oh it wont work for this or that. Don't be crazy. Microsoft didn't get to where they are, which is a multi billion dollar money making machine, by doing stupid things. Mistakes yes, but if they are so stupid, why do they make so much money. Good business. I highly doubt they would bring this out and just go there ya go here are a couple of wii sports type games. Come on. Take your ps3 fanboy goggles off and think outside the box.

Pika-pie6192d ago

Dumb article... Reason 2 & 3 are not reasons at all

2. Natal is the start of something big.
3. It will take Microsoft in the Right Direction

Yeah... And how is that going to change gaming forever

JokesOnYou6192d ago

Natal won't work because a skeptic said so.....

....and we all know that the skeptics are always right.

I wonder if micro actually released Natal with a great game(not shovelware) that made sense, added to the gameplay, worked well and was implemented intuitively in some "hardcore" games would the sony extremists be glad they did? lmfao, who am I kidding....on n4g its a rhetorical question.

as far as i'm concerned, motion sensing gaming only appeals to casual gamers. and what casual gamers would actually buy an xbox 360 and then get a peripheral add-on to play some type of games that they can already enjoy with the $250 Wii right out of the box?

Natal + $199 Xbox will probably cost more than the Wii by itself.

Syronicus6192d ago

When I read comments like that by journalists, I come to two conclusions...

One, that journalist is a noob or a casual gamer themselves and is putting too much faith in Natal and...

Two, this Natal thing is making me depressed about where the big three want to take gaming. I hope that Sony and MS remain hardcore first and foremost then casual second. We hardcore gamers deserve better than to be left out in the cold.

Arnon6192d ago

I guess you didn't see the article about how Microsoft will use this in many different ways..

"Alex Kipman: Absolutely. We see there being three types of game. We love the [existing] controller, it's not going anywhere and there will continue to be games that are specifically made to only work with a controller. We'll have games that are specifically designed to work only with Natal - not just arcadey games, but real, hardcore, triple-A titles.

Then you'll have some games that are essentially a hybrid - games that work both with the controller and with Natal. Why is that interesting? Think about a first-person shooter where I'm using the controller but I'm doing facial tracking by just moving around and looking round corners.

Or you could have a hardcore gamer like me playing a game with a controller, while a non-hardcore person sitting next to me enjoys the experience by playing with Natal. I could be having my Halo experience with the controller and the friend next to me, who's not a hardcore gamer, could be throwing grenades or driving the Warthog or doing any number of things with Natal.

We can track up to four players in the same way we track controllers. Each individual player will be able to choose - do I want to bind with a controller, or do I want to bind with my body, or do I want to bind with both?"

Natal can be used for every one of those games. Use a little imagination.

Grown Folks Talk6192d ago

people continue to have selective amnesia about that. It doesn't fit their predetermined agenda to admit that Microsoft isn't completely abandoning the controller. You can bring up that statement in every Natal article & people gloss by it like it was never said. Again, if Sony showed the exact same thing down to the E3 trailer & demos, it would be the 2nd coming of Tim Tebow.

Jim Hawking6192d ago

How would you throw grenades? you cant detect the arc of the shot. Didn't actually think that through did you? If you actually sit down and think about how the natal could be used in a non-casual game you will reach one of two conclusions.

1) It can't
2) It can if you dilute the game down to nothing or the natal support to nothing.

What is the damn point of this thing? The only reason I even care is that I will be entering the industry soon and these are not the kind of games I want to be working on.

Arnon6191d ago

DURR... Is it hard to read?

READ WHAT I POSTED. It will be used with a controller. My god.

Jaces6191d ago

Still skeptical.

Show me something I can believe M$, that little tech demo was BS.

I want to see an actual game being played, a hardcore AAA game....I mean that's what they said it could do right?

Disagree,don't think it will work.

Why dis6192d ago (Edited 6192d ago )

Don't be fooled this is the PS3 fan that impersonates loyal 360 fans trying to destroy their reputations with a metally twisted character assassination tactic.

Wayward6192d ago

To me I prefer people telling me a reason it won't work! Then I can agree or disagree. Simply saying it won't work makes no sense and shows your not to smart!

hulk_bash19876192d ago (Edited 6192d ago )

say on the flip chance that they do pull it off. It will definitely be a great step forward for the industry, at least in my opinion.

Jack Klugman6192d ago

Just as long as I am not having to wave what looks like a womens pleasure stick around its a win.

DDclarke6192d ago

Hmm.. sex games could work well in Natal... with certain adapters.. wait, nevermind...

DDclarke6192d ago

Yeah, actually I think you've made that quite clear! Haha.

Chicken Chasser6192d ago

Just like Onlive it has no place in your household until Miyamoto/Kutaragi put their stamp of approval on the technology.

So until Miyamoto comes out and says this is a product you should own,you shouldn't own such a thing.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.
