Uncharted 2 BETA Experience Is Mindblowing

Badassgamerblog: "Just as the title says, I've got some hands on time with the Uncharted 2 Multiplayer BETA and the game simply oozes quality, this is a game I know I'll be playing for quite some time, and to be honest I didn't expect Naughty Dog to pull off a Multiplayer experience quite this good, but hey they are one of the first devs to bring to us "True Next Generation visuals" with the first Uncharted, so I guess we should expect the best and only the best from the guys and gals at Naughty Dog. read on for my BETA impressions."

I don't really like the Multiplayer. I've been on the beta 3 or 4 times I can't really get into it. I can't wait for the single player though, and CO-OP

Everything makes sense now.

Wow, Cthulu.

I bet you haven't even played the Uncharted 2 beta. It's quite nice.

Also, Metal Gear Solid 4 won PLENTY of awards, including Game of the Year from some sources. These days, it's becoming more and more rare for an exclusive to win Game of the Year from anyone, with all journalists deciding to take the easy route and go with the latest multiplatform craze because they don't get called fanboys for choosing Fallout, or Grand Theft Auto, or Call of Duty, etc. The fact that anybody gave Metal Gear Solid 4 their Game of the Year award is testament to the fact that it was a remarkable experience. And it was.

Uncharted wasn't quite as well-received by the critics, but it was still very highly praised, and it too was a very good game.

Uncharted 2 has won "E3 Game of the Show" from more publications than any other single title, so I'm not sure why you're coming into this thread, in the Gamer Zone, and talking like only fanboys can possibly appreciate it.

i just hope I dont get tired of the mp from the beta before the actual game comes out cause it can be insanely addictive!

The controls make the beta..
The animations make the beta..

Uncharted's online is not only fluid, but the visuals are just pure stunning. The ambient occlusion is an amazing touch as well. But Plunder is the stand out hero here. The weight/the throwing of that artifact is just a great dynamic that sits well with the Uncharted Universe.

Its honestly above all "multiplayer" modes I've ever played. Usually its just a spin off of some degraded maps, and your typical run around shooting people until the clock cuts down. Which the beta has, but when included with the climbing/melee. Uncharted once again finds its own niche here.

And did I mention co-op?

Elvfam5116161d ago (Edited 6161d ago )

lmao

We can say the same to Halo 3 wasn't suppose win in 2007 for GOTY

A few minor tweaks to the end product could help, but so far its been a blast to play. I wasn't a fan of the first Uncharted, only got as far as that sub stuck on the cliff edge, maybe if I stuck to it a bit more I wouldve enjoyed it. Either way the mp beta gives me more than enough hope that I will probably very much enjoy Uncharted 2.

sorry xfans, microshaft blew their load too early. theres nothing left for you guys as far as games, which explains your constant trolling in everything with the word sony on it

darthv726161d ago

I played it and liked it. Not as explosive as some say but then again, that is just my view.

Good game none the less. The single player is what I am looking forward to.

"microshaft blew their load too early. theres nothing left for you guys as far as games, which explains your constant trolling in everything with the word sony on it"

And what would explain your trolling then?

table6161d ago (Edited 6161d ago )

The problem with some people is that they pretend they can't enjoy an online game that isn't an FPS. MGO, despite its critics, proved to us that third person games have the best online so I suspect I'm going to love Uncharted2 online.

no you got it all wrong. Im a QUALITY hag.

alan wake, mass effect series, bioshock /gearsowar/ cod series ALL ON MY HOOKED UP PC's.

as far as my racing needs, nothing touches gran turismo

hate me more now, since i have the better versions of your preffered games. play mass effect on pc and then tell me the 360 version is not gimped.

Tarasque6161d ago

Yes i am really liking the beta gameplay wise.

DMason6160d ago

Ok, and your point is? So what if you can play some of those on a PC. The debate here is that you said there's no Xbox 360 exclusives, and you're wrong. MS has just as many if not more exclusives.

If you want quality, try Xbox Live. More players and better connectivity.

JL6160d ago

I can't wait for this game. I mean I feel like some giddy lil schoolgirl when i hear about UC2 or think about it lol. The first one, I think, may very well still be my favorite game of this console generation. I CAN'T WAIT!

I wanted to get into this beta to try it out (though i'm not typically a diehard mp gamer, single-player is where i tend to spend most my time), however I pre-ordered the game online, but when it came to me alas.....no beta code. I have to say, was a bit disappointed as I was under the assumption all preorders got it. Then again, may all well be for the good as it'll give me a chance to catch up on other games before UC2 ends up consuming my life for, what I'm guessing will be, a long while.

is my GOTY 2009 for sure, nothing else this year seems as impressive as this game!

Donga6161d ago

to create a multiplayer experience this good either. but they did.

Ubuntula6161d ago

mindblowingly awesome indeed!

AntMad6161d ago

how about mindblowingly bad??!

nah, just joking...the BETA rocks!

Uncharted 2 GOTY 2009

Orange6161d ago

maps feel a little claustrophobic for me. would prefer more than 5 on 5. maybe i'm just complaining because my k/d ratio sucks....and i'm not used to so much color saturation in a game.

btw, why do players insist on broadcasting their sh*tty taste in music over their headsets? and must we hear your kids in the background? really not necessary. the terms and conditions for the multi-player should include agreeing not to broadcast your crappy music or crappy kids. /end rant.

masterg6161d ago

5 on 5 seems fine to me.. It's hard to stay alive for very long at a time.

Rainstorm816161d ago (Edited 6161d ago )

your nit picking im in the beta and the maps fit 5 on 5. BTW almost every online game lets you mute anyone you dont want to hear.

Just give me a wide variety of maps and a few fixes here and there. between the SP and MP uncharted 2 will take up alot of my time.

wanna play me on U2 beta PSN - Rainstorm81

Orange6157d ago

@4.4 I'm enjoying it more now that i've spent some time with it. Yeah, i know you can mute, but it comes on at the start of each match and you have to mute again. plus, it'd be nice to hear people coordinating.

Uncharted 2 Is the Most Important PlayStation Exclusive of All Time

In a list of games that defined the PlayStation 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves would certainly be one of the top contenders. The blockbuster sequel to 2007’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune not only received critical acclaim and became a massive hit for Sony’s third console when it was released 15 years ago on October 13th, 2009, but it also cemented Naughty Dog’s future as a developer of cinematic, story-driven action-adventure games as opposed to its history of colorful platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter from previous PlayStation generations. To this day, Uncharted 2 stands as one of the PS3’s best exclusives and one of the most important PlayStation games of all time.

gold_drake540d ago

it was pretty good. especially the multiplayer

KyRo540d ago

I loved this era on multiplayer games from Sony. People used to call the modes tacked on multiplayer but they were enjoyable. I loved Factions even more. I'm Still gutted that the second one isn't coming out.

-Foxtrot540d ago

Yeah, that one game where it not only has an amazing single player but the multiplayer was also just as good.

A fresh a breath air with it's more "skill focused, less is more" multiplayer in a time during COD fever where every other game with online was trying to be like it.

Shame NaughtyDog eventually did do COD like things with Uncharted 3 and 4, they ruined what made the original so good. It become an over the top arcade fest in the end.

Inverno540d ago

Ironic cause the MP was basically Halo, and Bungie helped on the technical side of things too. MP was more simple back then, I've said this before but I played U2 MP religiously. I sucked at it like you have no idea, but mah gawd did I have so much fun. Can't find an MP game that hooked me like U2s these days. Then Factions came along and while it had its problem I found new religion with it. Agh damn it why did they cancel Factions 2 bruhh.

gold_drake540d ago

i had so much fun too, played almost every night with mates or cousins baha

Relientk77540d ago

It is for sure my favorite game in the series. It's such a blast to play. The train levels still hold up and are fun as hell as well as the entire game.

RaidenBlack540d ago (Edited 540d ago )

Still remember the first gameplay video ... shooting the chasing truck and then the beautiful visuals & details whilst traversing the dilapidated Nepal streets ... perfection
Too bad Sony never ported the trilogy to PC ...

RaiderNation540d ago

I would argue it's God of War.

darthv72540d ago

I'll say, the PS3 really did sequels better than people give it credit for. Resistance 2, Uncharted 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Infamous 2... all were better than their initial offerings and still hold up to this day.
