I'm in agreement... Motion control has no place with the hardcore gamer.

Genesis56191d ago

I agree with you. I don't think the hardcore will go for this. I think that everyone that was interested in it already owns a Wii.

Syronicus6191d ago

The only thing I have seen of any use for the motion tech announced by Sony and MS a couple weeks back has been that it provided much kindle for the fanboys to use for flame wars... Not that I would call that a good use of this new tech of course...

pxpxp6191d ago

but i also have hopes that either sony or MS or maybe both will come up with a game that appeals to the hardcore audience, implementing the use of this technology

ExgamerLegends26191d ago

I'm a hard core game and I cant wait for Sony's wand. Also as a future game developer I cant wait to use it in my own games.

LOL, funny how Motion controls = Casual.
Sad...

People are so damn insecure...and for what?

" no substance "

You know if developers made no good use of the D-pad, rumble, dual analog, Shoulder buttons...then yeah sure there would be no substance either.
Its up to people to give it substance, of course if you don't support it, in your vision it won't have substance at all.

I don't see how its a hype if it actually sets people to gaming...

" It’s just a fun fling with a new group of consumers, but keep in mind that we are gamers, true and blue. We need a decent gaming device, it’s what we want. Those ‘casuals’ will drop you whenever the next better thing comes along. "

Funny...I know he is talking about MS and Sony...but Wii-mote + RE:4 = AWESOME = MORE than a decent gaming device.

" This is why both Sony and Microsoft should focus on us. Have your fun with kids, grannies and soccer moms (I know I do ;D), but don’t abandon your hardcore fans like Nintendo did."
So bringing in more people is abandoning others...ok...got it.

This guys is just insecure, his gaming world is collapsing of his own ignorance.

Agreed, motion control is here to stay. Just give it some time creative developers will create something awesome.

I think the reason for the resistance is with the Wii set the bar as casual focus only burned a lot of hard core gamers.

LOL... they got scarred and so all this insecurity is coming out!

For instance, Punch Out seem like a cool game. I just don't know how well it works with Wii motes, but there is a place for motion control for hard core gamers!

ChickeyCantor6191d ago

As im a supporter of Motion gaming, Punch-out goes best with the Wii-mote on its side.

Bosses are hard enough with classic control scheme...

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle32d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg38d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree37d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai37d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde39d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy39d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

DivineHand12539d ago (Edited 39d ago )

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
