I was thinking Vegas but aside from the strip, there isn't much that is exciting about Vegas. London sounds cool though.

Expect Vice City again, R* are redoing the entire big 3 cities all over again but with a more realistic and bigger scale.

They want to do what they did before on a bigger scale, so expect that.

I'd love to see a gta, or a game similiar to it, set in the future, playing around in a megacity like the one in fifth element would be really cool. :)

I think it would be cool if they did a whole country like for the sake of argument the united states where you could drive, fly, ect to different major cities. Hell I think Rockstar should go big or go home for GTA:V, bring back the crazy ass weapons and vehicles. GTA:IV was boring compared to San Andreas and previous gta's and Rockstar needs to get their head out of their ass and return to what made GTA fun.

I think the next GTA title should be set in a modern-day setting of Vice City, modelled on how how Miami looks now. Miami is a much bigger city now than it was before, with more bright lights and bigger nightlife. Even though Miami is not as dangerous or wild as it was in the "Cocaine Cowboy" era of the 1980s, it still has quite a high murder and crime rate, especially drug-related cases. A lot of gangs and organized crime groups are still very active in Miami.
I really believe a modern day Vice City, including the state of Florida (Everglades, swamps, other cities and towns) would be the best idea. I think the lead character should be a Hispanic immigrant who arrives off the boat in Vice City and starts off as a small-time criminal who aspires to be a drug cartel baron - it would suit the South Florida/Miami setting perfectly as it has a massive Cuban/Latino influence . Who remembers the Mariel boatlift from Scarface?

As for the other ideas stated on here, I have this to say:

@ Lifendz - while I agree with you about not choosing London, I totally disagree with you there about the next GTA being set in Sydney, Australia. A place with a relatively very low crime rate and small gang scene - you must be on crack my friend!

@ Dimitrius and Genki - Now, you either gotta be smoking crack, heroin and crystal methaphetamines in one whole joint or you have simply just gone mad and delusional. You suggested GTA in the Caribbean -man are you serious? Where would the fun in that be? Just what type of infrastructure do you think would be in place to enjoy playing the game? Idyllic tropical beaches and shanty towns? You guys have a small point about the violent crime/high murder rate scene in places like Jamaica, but that alone does not make it an ideal location for a GTA game. Come on guys, get real!

@ Rockers Delight - You suggested Glasgow, Scotland. Now I think thats just the whiskey in your system talking for you. Too much of it frankly. While I'm aware that Glasgow has it's rough areas, anyone with half a brain would know that a cold, grey and bland-looking city where men where kilt skirts, is not a prime setting for a GTA game.

As for those who said London, well the Getaway caters for your needs, no need for it in GTA. As for those who said Tokyo - Nah. Yakuza has that covered. Someone also suggested Johannesburg which is a big metropolis, but it is not a place that everyone can identify with - start off creating mayhem in Soweto-style township ghetto slums? What you know about that? Not a lot, I didn't think so. I personally think GTA games should only be set in American cities, as I cant see them working too well anywhere else. Someone mentioned Chicago - too similar a setting to New York, which was already done in Liberty City, so I dont think Chicago is an ideal setting. Some suggested Detroit and it sounds interesting but I dont think it's big enough. Just make the next title in a modern Vice City with a good character like the one I stated earlier and a good storyline, all the best features missing from previous GTAs and new ones added, more mission and gameplay variety, more gangs and gang wars and more fun elements and I'll be a very happy man.

Rockstar you already done messed up with GTA 4 even though I still liked the game - show me you can do much better!

Should be located in Washington D.C. and parts of Northern VA and Southern MD. But the main area will be D.C. I know it would cause lots of controversy, but that's what Rockstar is known for. Plus D.C. is extremely diverse. And some people don't know, but outside the National Mall, it becomes quite the ghetto. Lots of gangs, lots of differing cultures, lots of tourists to mess with, and they can play with corrupt officials even more. Not to mention D.C. is one of the most iconic cities in America, just like NY (Liberty City).

No terrorist stuff though.

America has been done to death in GTA now. I think a change of continent would re-invigorate the series, that said, the game is as much a synical social commentary on American/Western lifetsyle as it is a sandbox action game, so maybe they're stuck in there.

I think Paris would be a cool place to set it. Beautiful city with a really seedy underbelly, Russian/Chinese/African/Middle Eastern gangters. Lots of prostitution and drugs, great nightclubs, and all the other ingredients of a GTA game.

In more then just one city, Why can't it be GTA in different areas of the unitedstates. Your rep gets so hot you have to relocate to a different city lets say you have problems in L.A, you use your money and travel to Vegas and do different jobs from casino black mail security, to putting hoes on a stroll.

not really though, they'd totally f@ck it up. the recreation of the city would probably be amazing, but if the story slowly recedes into laziness by slowly and progressively stereotyping more and more ethnic groups like in GTA4, it'll be awful. also there'd probably be way too many inaccurate katrina references/"facts" that'd just piss people off.. if the discovery channel can't even get it right, how would rockstar?

I am black and my dad flipped his lid when I got San Andreas. I understood his dissaproval for the game because of some negative stereotypes but they were pretty accurate with west coast gang culture though. Needless to say I loved it and now I want to see a GTA with an Asain lead. China Town Wars doesnt count either. International would be insane but I dont know how they could make it work. Technically it would be too big to make.
