Sony and Microsoft have to one-up each other with their technology.

Day 1: Natal presented

Day 2: PS3motion presented

Day 3: Natal will be used in actual games

Day 4: PS3motion will be easy to integrate into all game types; devkits already in the hand of 1st party developers!

Day 5: Natal will replace controllers in the home; devkits in the hands of third party developers!

Day 6: PS3motion will be easy to develop for; strong for a spring 2010 release

Day 7: Natal will be a part of everyone's home and is integral to the future of the 360. No 360 will be without a natal in the future

Day 8: PS3motion is essential for the future of Sony

Seriously, it's just one one-up-manship after another since they brought them out at E3.

Meanwhile Nintendo is laughing at both these idiots, and about to release their new gimmick that will be just as "essential" to the other consoles, two years after Nintendo has sold a buttload of consoles.

True, true!

Actually, I think the "one up manship" is going to be for nothing unless Sony and Microsoft plan to give the devices away. Wii is a success because the waggle was standard and it gave developers little option - you want to make a Wii game, it has to use the remote.

Natal and Sony's do not have that luxury. They could be the next Power Glove rather than the next Wii remote, because devs don't have to develop games for them to develop on the system and they're both an afterthought, no matter how impressive the tech is.

If Microsoft really want to make Natal a hit, it needs to be a day 1 thing on their next console, not something x years down the line to cash in on Wii's popularity. Same with Sony.

but, you should not forget that NATAL is already well know in the maintream or will soon be....
i am sure that in a year, you ask you grandma if she knew what NATAL was...she would asnwer you with "o you mean the motion-sensing peripheral for da 360...ya of course i know about it...we use it all the time at the retirement house.!!!"
lol....more or less...

Pirate, I agree with you on most of your points, but I think including the Natal thing and Sony's motion controller as standards on their next lineup will alienate the customers that currently enjoy both the current lineup of systems. I am thinking that is why they decided to bring them out at this point, instead of working on new systems. Having them as add-ons may not sell as much, but it is an excellent idea for those of us who prefer the standard controller to a Wii-mote style. Which is the audience Sony has stated they are aiming for.

so as long as it works well for the PS3 and games just like everyone else been saying give me GOW 3 and R&C using SMC and I'll be happy man same goes for WKC or hopefully Dark Cloud 3 using it would be cool to.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle26d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
