First, upon viewing the video, the constant re-occurring themes with this game seem to be "simple" and "easy." I'm afraid that making all moves so easily accessible to anyone who picks up the controller may drastically dumb-down human competition. How can a hardcore player gain a meaningful edge if it's so easy form ANYONE to be a so-called "MK Master", as the video insinuates.

One other concern is whether the Wii controls are sensetive, accurate, and quick enough to precisely read all the motions that the player is whishing to convey. As much fun as I had with Wii boxing, it's often very frustrating when all-too-often, my punches do not mirror properly on-screen, if at all.

It's going to be interesting to see how this all pans out for this version of Mortal Kombat.

Having spent some open-minded time w/ Wii boxing, I will say that there's a certain way u have to punch in order for the different punches to register. I too was somewhat disappointed to learn that the boxer's punches don't mirror mine exactly, but I can now throw the punches I want consistently and the game is still very fun (and challenging).

I understand your concern about making special moves too easy but on the flipside, I feel that Street Fighter II is much more non-hardcore-gamer-friendly than MK simply because there are more non-special moves and the special moves can be figured out much easier by those who aren't familiar w/ the game. This makes SFII much more appealing to a wider audience in my opinion, and the Wii has that wider audience. By making the controls easier, the casual gamer will have more of a chance against the hardcore gamer and thus everyone can play.

lol the best line in that video's commentary: "Even puking has never been so easy."

I loved Deadly Alliance and Deception. I literally grew up with Mortal Kombat, and have probably owned every game in the series at one point or another. I actually enjoyed Armageddon too, despite the fact that they made a lazy fatality alternative. The fighter create mode was fucn, and I'm not afraid to admit that I played the hell out of the racing mode.

I think the best part about the PS2 era was the side games.

Yui_Suzumiya2205d ago (Edited 2205d ago )

I haven't played any since the 4th game. I loved the first 4 and would play them all time in arcades. I want to get Mortal Kombat 11 once the complete edition drops.

Why Mortal Kombat Armageddon Was an Indulgent Last Hurrah For Klassic Kombat

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon felt like an end to everything the series had been building towards for many years, literally funneling every character – from elder gods to goofy guest stars – into a massive meat grinder, letting that bloody paste congeal before rebooting the franchise half a decade later.

Worst and laziest of the series!

The last Klassic Kombat to me was Mortal Kombat Trilogy, before the art style changed. Klassic Kombat was 2d not 3d too imo

TrueMetal2685d ago

I agree. UMK3 was the last great MK game(before MK9) and Trilogy was a nice send off before the series started to suck when it went 3d with 4.

If they didn't goof with getting experimental with the fatalities in this one it could have easily been the best. That fighter roster was awesome

Mortal Kombat hasn’t been the same for me ever since that piece of crap they call deadly alliance came out. That gameplay was slow as hell and they killed my favorite character lui kang.

MK1: masterpiece
MK2: masterpiece
MK3: good
MK4: awesome
MK deadly alliance: crap
MK Deception: okay
MK Armageddon: trash
MK vs DC: okay
MK9: good
MKX: got boring after I beat the story mode

I never got into 3D fighting games. The mk 3D era were the only ones I ever played. I miss the konquest story modes and the Shaolin monk games. The 3D brawler type of mini game would be welcomed with open arms. The weird mini games were great as well. Mk9 has some cool distractions in the challenge tower. I hope more of that stuff shows up in mk11.

As long as there is no BS universal fatality system then it will be gladly welcomed.

Scenarist4278d ago

too bad the basic moves havent been basic since mk4 ..i miss the basic .. sweep, uppercut, backspin kick..etc.. being universal

mafiahajeri4278d ago

I still don't understand why they haven't made a sequel to shaolin monks or a remastered edition. The gameplay was so smooth and fun, the boss fights were so intense and unique to one another.

Best gow clone last gen IMO and well that's saying a lot.

victorMaje4278d ago

here's to hoping for a remake at least :)

ifrit_caress4278d ago

I didn't like MKA to begin with.
