"The controller looks like a Fisher Price designed sex toy - not exactly a match for aesthetics of the PS3 and its peripherals."

urm... its a prototype. not a final design, you idiot.

Scolar Visari6225d ago

Probably did that for laughs ... obviously didn't work. :P

mrv3216224d ago

All I read was sex and toy.... you have me sold beats the pedophily simulator Microsoft offers... yeah anyone who plays milo is sick.

Mini Mario6224d ago

It will be hard to do a FPS on natal. No analong stick for movement. (that goes for sony too). Sony and MS are going for the casual audience while completely ignoring the "gamers". How are u supposed to walk in a FPS?

If u scratch yourself while playing natal what happens>? Great technology if it does what it says its gonna do tho. Just dont know how it will work with gamers games.

Downtown boogey6224d ago

making a commercial where they show off lighsaber gameplay!

nikola9876224d ago

"..its a prototype. not a final design, you idiot."
You are apparently born as an idiot. Why would sony create a sex toy even if it is prototype? This is there plan for final design, and very little is going to change.

Kaneda6224d ago

Sony did say it is a prototype during the conference..

Of the three, I'd say Sony's impressed me the most. I think Nintendo has failed to use the motion control to satisfy hardcore gamers, so i'm just looking past them. Natal just has too many question and everything MS said about it is ambition, not substance. Plus, i saw no demo's of game i would want to play. In sony's demonstration, they showed things that I would be interested in, sword fighting, archery, things that go above minigames.

Its not that I don't think natal could be big, but I believe MS should waited to bring it to the public. Now it has such massive hype, and even if its an amazing piece of hardware, it still won't defeat expectations.

ChickeyCantor6225d ago (Edited 6225d ago )

" f the three, I'd say Sony's impressed me the most. I think Nintendo has failed to use the motion control to satisfy hardcore gamers "

Aaaand how did Sony impress you while they only showed tech demo's, just like Nintendo has?(yes im calling Wii-sports resort a tech demo, but a good demo imo)
So in what way did Nintendo fail and Sony did not?

N4g_null6225d ago

Man the early builds of resort are crazy!

They have 3 on 3 basket mall now
Mountain biking
wave race like game
pilot wings like game
Sword fighting against multiple other fighters on a rope bridge!
Of course the archery game which all comes out in a few weeks time.

Good luck with the eye toy thing. It's really too bad your sticking your nose up to the Wii but what ever. I think motion control may be the HD guys worst nightmare and so far few games or developers have any plans for that tech at all.

Another thing is they will be luck if the things even sale. On the other systems motion control is nothing but a gimmick on the Wii all software has to live up to the Wii sport and resort standard. The bar is set pretty high with resort. Also a bunch of real games will be out way before the HD motion tech takes off.

Hey but it all comes down to your opinion. It's what you believe or want to believe and that is cool with me. I just hate to see people miss out on some good game play.

Mini Mario6224d ago

Hypocrite

"Of the three, I'd say Sony's impressed me the most. I think Nintendo has failed to use the motion control to satisfy hardcore gamers, so i'm just looking past them."

O really...so how do u move using sonys device>>? No "nun-chuck" >?? PPl just love to rag on nintendo for no reason, its pathetic.

"In sony's demonstration, they showed things that I would be interested in, sword fighting, archery, things that go above minigames."

O yeh coz nintendo didnt show sword fighting in their "sword play" in wii sports, or "archery" in wii sports. U guys are the biggest hypocrites on the planet.

ChickeyCantor6224d ago

@mini,
Funny how 11 people( and counting?) agreed on him, simply because of the fact its a biased mess here.

Archery and Sword fighting is something Nintendo showed too...just pathetic how some people think.

saint_john_paul_ii6224d ago

my son, Sonys Motion Controller was a prototype, we dont know yet whether or not the controller will have analog sticks or not. by looking at the patents, it looks like they were thing to put analog sticks on it.

Either way I believe that by the Time these two companies (Sony and MS) releases their Motion controls/Motion Cameras, it will be to little too late because Nintendo has a wiimote on every Wii Console in a box, which is how your suppose to sell hardware that you want to standardize.

kewlkat0076224d ago

at least MS is trying something a little different....but if you hated motion sensing and blasted the wii, now all the sudden, some accept Sony motion like it's the next best thing.....lol

akaFullMetal6224d ago

wow you guys are jumping on him because he preferred the ps3 motion controller over the wii??? He explained why, he said that the wii hasn't shown any games that interest him that use the wii motion controls. I personally haven't liked anything that nintendo has released that use the motion controls any better than a regular controller.
The only thing that looked promising for motion control was red steel, and that game was very inaccurate.
I believe sony will come out with alot of hardcore games that can use the motion controls very well, like a robin hood game, or even use traditional fps if/when they add a analog stick.
Can't wait.

Yassine6225d ago

Just imagine SONY's last tech demo on Project NATAL. With MICROSOFT's camera you can not move the shield and the sword only, but you can move your entire body and move around in the room freely. While with SONY's technology you can just move your arms while your feet are completely steady. I must say that if Microsoft delivers what was promised it will be really impressive.

ChickeyCantor6225d ago (Edited 6225d ago )

Its not a simple switch of "HEY LOOK WE HAVE MOTION CONTROLS TOO, COME OVER AND PLAY"...

Its as if people don't understand that the key to capture the audience is; MARKETING.

If MS and Sony fail to capture a huge audience(you included) with this, developers wil barely give support. It will end up like the Eye-toy for the PS2. ( Im not saying its a bad idea, rather that the support wasn't that great to be honest).

First it was HD that would kill Nintendo.
Then it was price cuts that would kill nintendo(Xbox360 dropping to 150)
And now its "motion controls" that will kill Nintendo.

Im not sure if any of you are understanding this, but just producing the products won't get you anywhere, you need to inform people about it, make them believe its the ultimate game thing for them.
And since both of them aren't coming out soon enough, who says Nintendo hasn't already made the next step?

Im not bashing Sony and MS, im wishing them good luck, but seriously, the "its over for Nintendo" BS needs to end, cause you guys have been proven wrong many times.

Edit:
And FYI, i did not hit the disagree button,

jerethdagryphon6225d ago

you have to move around the room, meaning you need a lot of space to use it ith no controller any game that involves movment ie shooters fighting games will be hard and exausting

iamtehpwn6225d ago

people in their Golden Years, and Soccer moms will still go for it.

but as Sidar mentioned...it's far too late in the life span for either one of these to do anything. Unless you include Natal in the 360, or the sony motion controller with new PS3's....This isn't going far.

Mini Mario6224d ago (Edited 6224d ago )

"ust imagine SONY's last tech demo on Project NATAL. With MICROSOFT's camera you can not move the shield and the sword only, but you can move your entire body and move around in the room freely."

People used to bag the wii for slightly moving your wrist playing wii sports. Saying things like "looking like a moron...waving your arms around like an idiot"....."motion sensing is a gimmick".

Now people are all for moving their whole bodies around the room! I hope you can hold your position well coz i hate to think what happens when u scratch certain parts of your body when u play.

Sony wins

let the war begin

Montreafart6225d ago (Edited 6225d ago )

And emphasis on the following part:

"This is all relatively new technology and unproven especially when compared to Nintendo and Sony’s solutions. While the hardware in Natal is all fairly straightforward, its real gamble is in the algorithms it will be running internally to make sense of what its army of sensors will be seeing and hearing."

They made it seem like as if this was just a small problem when in fact this problem is most likely going to end up killing Natal. There is no way Natal can be applied in traditional gaming unless its something trivial like "use hands left and right to plant the charges in gaylo 6"

Other than that Natal can be used and implemented in casual gimmicks like RIcochet and some arcade racers. Accuracy in precision is not any issue in these games. But games like COD, RPGs, fighting games etc, DO REQUIRE precision, timing, skills, accuracy etc.

Only Sony's project has the power to be applied in traditional gaming.

Finally, whats even more astonishing is the fact that noone questioned how the controls can be implemented in the consoles.

Let us not forget that simple wii motion already eats up 70% of the wiis total power and CPU usage leaving not much for everything else. Sony can counter this because Cell is a superprocessor. Having harddrive and Blu Ray doesnt hurt either. But Xenon is a crap processor and never meant to do anything more other than basic operating. I find it hard to believe that Natals controls do not require a big chunk of Xenons power to work properly. Pretty much forcing an overload on the already overloaded 360.

Let us now look at things from a commercial and economic standpoint. I find it hilarious how stupid xbots think they can own a piece of skynet for less than 20 bucks. I dont think Natal can be priced at anywhere lower than 200 bucks. Let alone 20 bucks. This further proves my theory that xbots really are retarded people (who else can get sucked into buying a cheap plastic like the 360? Think about it). But thats besides the point. Natal retailing at 150 for casual gimmick isnt going to work. Who the hell in their right mind is going to buy that just so they can throw buckets of paint (inaccurately I might add) on a piece of background! "but, but, bu...you can move your hands while doing it". Rightttttt.

Honestly, Natal offers voice recognition (supposedly, but from what we have seen, very BASIC voice recognition like "Reveal", "Clear", "Picture" etc. Milo was entirely scripted and faked), tracks 48 points of the body, facial recognition and what not. Thats not going to be cheap. So its expensive AND worthless for traditional games.

I fail to see how it cannot turn into anything but a flop. Its got hype on its side, thats for sure. But bots are starved for games and will cling on to anything MS launches right now. Even if that were to be dogshiat. If MS would sell dogshiat tomorrow for 10 bucks each, xbots will by it up like hotcakes.

ChickeyCantor6225d ago (Edited 6225d ago )

" Let us not forget that simple wii motion already eats up 70% of the wiis total power and CPU usage leaving not much for everything else "

LOL, citation needed.

Also lol at the "total power and CPU"

The Wii-remote, has its own CPU, the acceleratometers, they calculate the movement and then send it to the Wii.
Motion plus will do exactly that.

70%, lawl.

TheMART6224d ago (Edited 6224d ago )

@ Montre

"Only Sony's project has the power to be applied in traditional gaming. "

This is where you go wrong already. Motion sensing overall isn't for traditional gaming and traditional gamers. Traditional gaming and gamers want controllers. See how your beloved SUXAXIS overall failed unless a few exceptions.

Motion controls overall are for the casual gamer. And thats the target group MS likes to get besides the current hardcore gamer that will keep their controllers.

"I find it hilarious how stupid xbots think they can own a piece of skynet for less than 20 bucks. I dont think Natal can be priced at anywhere lower than 200 bucks"

I find it hilarious how a stupid PS3 tard think that an add-on that replaces a controller will be anything close to 200 bucks, about the same price as a 360. You have to be a complete moron to believe that. It won't be 20 either. Anything around 69, to 99 bucks will fit. Its less the 3 Wiimotes with Nunchucks or PS3 dildo's PLUS a PSeye. BTW can there be 3 PS3 dildo's at the same time in one game or just one dildo???

"Finally, whats even more astonishing is the fact that noone questioned how the controls can be implemented in the consoles."

It has been said that Natal has its own processing stuff inside, it takes no hit on the 360 hardware.

You're IQ is just too low to get the head around these new developments.

ptotoy6224d ago

mainly because it will not come out for the 3fixme.. it's for the next xbox.. LOL.. wait, maybe you are right; mainly because the next xbox is just a 3fixme will natal as the motion controls just like the wii and gamecube.. LOL

talltony6224d ago

You have to admit that sony's motion controller would be better for a actual hardcore FPS. Natal will have different kinds of games and will slightly be incorporated in hardcore games but I cant see Natal being used as the primary controller for FPS's.

Oner6224d ago (Edited 6224d ago )

You'll just be wasting your time and effort TallTony. You're trying to have a conversation with someone who calls the PS3's motion controller a "dildo" yet does not for the Wii, believes with all his heart that 1 centimeter "accuracy" (Natal) is better than Sub Millimeter accuracy (PS3MC), doesn't (more like will never) admit PS 1st party exclusive titles are better in all dimension than it's competitors.

All the while at the same time cannot admit MS is a company that has been based off lies, cheating and stealing other peoples ideas to just say it's their own since it's inception....and Natal is no different in this respect.

talltony6224d ago

I have to say something though, I am sure he reads my comments and maybe just maybe if I keep showing him how stupidly biased he is then maybe he'll come around....someday.....

Oner6224d ago

Never gonna happen Tony. He just blocks/ignores you and keeps on with the same old biased and misinformed rhetoric BS as if it was reality or truthful in some way...absolutely immature and sad really.

Good comparison.

Even though it depends on how you use it..pun intended...haha

Natal - http://www.project-natal.ne...

Pseye and ps3 motion :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

If both are used to "casual" and hardcore advantages"

They both will be good for both communities. But as for which ones more advance...you guys can decide

also forgot

sonys eyepet game http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

apparently the natal can track 4 people at one time and track shoulders and elbows head feet etc... (according to microsoft)

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle61d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree67d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai66d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
