Resident Evil 5 Patched, Now Less Evil

Dana Olson on TAWKN writes:

"Fire up Resident Evil 5 and you will be prompted to download the 38MB v1.03 patch. But what has changed?

Well, the only thing I noticed so far is that saved game data is no longer copy-protected! This is a huge, huge plus in my eyes. I have reflected this update on the game's profile page. Thank you, Capcom."

adolson6192d ago

lol

This makes up for the DLC stuff (at least for me, personally. Copy protection is bullshit).

Tapewurm6191d ago

Killzone 2 and Red Alert 3 are two that I would like to see patched to un-copy protect the save data... Get on it Guerrilla and EA....wtf were they thinking in the first place....and of course Capcom needs to get on patching Street Fighter 4 for the same thing, but kudos to them on the RE5 patch :)

BLuKhaos6191d ago

"shi"wtf were they thinking in the first place".....I don't know maybe to discourage n00bs from cheating.

JoySticksFTW6191d ago

Yeah- but if your hard drive crashed, you were up sh!t's creek without a paddle.

I like being able to back up my game saves.

Besides, if a noob wants to pay $60 for the game and not enjoy it - that's his business

Tapewurm6191d ago

Cheating my arse. I lost all of my saved data of two years when my 60 gig died. I sent it in to be repaired and got back a refurb with a different serial number so my backup data on the old external harddrive was useless..... 2 years of hours and hours of gameplay down the tubes...thank God they tied the trophies to your PSN account so I didn't lose them, but I do still have to go back and work my way up to the point where I got those trophies in order to progress further...really sux.

I just wish they would tie game saves to your PSN account then they could copy-protect them all they want...game saves are a direct result of the customers time and effort spent playing the game that they purchased...and copy protecting that data is complete BS.

Tsalagi6191d ago

Kinda pathetic that a developer is that worried about people getting a small jpeg of a trophy (which they can't by cheating) that they would do something that punishes those of us who like to back up our game saves or want to upgrade their HDD.

IdleLeeSiuLung6191d ago

Un-copy protecting savegames is not the solution. The solution is to tie the save games to the PSN account, not the console (as well). Could it be that they don't do this since PSN account is not required?

I don't think this applies to the Xbox as I used my hard drive with the save games on different 360s.

Unfortunately, removing copy protection invalidates others hard work in getting trophies though... This shouldn't be allowed.

i hope lost planet 2 is not locked, and hope that capcom unlocks sf4 and lp1 as well.

FantasyStar6192d ago

1. Your PSN-ID is tagged to your gamesave so you can't use other people's saves to gain trophies.
2. It's trophies, c'mon? Why do we really care that much? Who cares what other people choose to waste their time on.
3. Sure people can hack saves to cheat the game, but that's their choice and it doesn't affect us in any way. Well...MP game saves, I'll believe it when I see it.

saint_john_paul_ii6191d ago

i guess they were waiting for sony to use cloud computing

Sir Ken_Kutaragi6191d ago

I F-IN HATE copy-protected saves!!! :-/ But now i can back-it-up;)

+ Hopefully GG will do that for KillZone 2 save soon???

+ PLEASE Game makers STOP F-IN DOING THAT!!! :-/
(Not that they read this!!!) ;-D

Whitefox7896191d ago

It's about freaking time they did that :D

Soldierone6191d ago

38 mb to just update game saves? Was the 5 gig install not enough? Come on capcom, not all of us can afford bigger hard drives and you dont need to waste all that space for nothing.

Like someone said, im surprised this update didnt cost 5 dollars....

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle27d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde34d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy35d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga36d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199235d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga35d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman35d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box36d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion35d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7236d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7535d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit35d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14936d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7736d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
