Videogamer: Alan Wake First Look Preview

There's more than a touch of Stephen King to the long-awaited Alan Wake. A young author and his wife take a trip to the quiet town of Pride Falls - a name that's almost as ominous as Silent Hill. Once there, Mr Wake manages to write a novel - ending a long-troubling bout of writer's block.

lets just hope it doesnt turn into another alone in the dark...

Unicron6185d ago

I doubt it will be, if you are talking qualitywise. This is a great team. I'm upset at the inclusion of the supernatural still, but I can't wait for this game.

beans6185d ago

I wonder if the game will have aliens and other types of weird things going on since it's episodic. Or will it only be about supernatural evil.

QuantumWake6185d ago

Lol. I believe this game will feature supernatural elements like, Avalanches will occur, rock slides maybe, the gas all of the suddenly turning on to create an explosion, trees will fall over so it can smash you or block you from getting to a certain point. But aliens, no. LOL!! :D :D

beans6185d ago

Yeah I'm sure aliens is a little far fetched and will never happen, but why not lol.

I like how Alan narrates in-game to give players an idea of what will happen next or what hes come across. Alan Wake is looking to be a very spooky game and its being made under psychological action. The story itself seems very well writen and I am sure that there will be plenty of dialogue.

The visuals look great. It's cool how the game renders tornadoes to give the player a more action oriented game, and the facial animations look very good due to the fact that Alan Wake uses motion capture animations so the characters look more realistic. Which to me looked great judging from the recent trailers.... I can't wait to get this game, its really becoming a must buy for me. :D

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8764d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg176d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia764d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie763d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos764d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie763d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh763d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
