During the William Blair Growth Stock Conference this morning, which I managed to listen to via webcast, EA chief operating officer John Pleasants confirmed Criterion has been assigned to an unannounced Need For Speed game.
"We've taken the Burnout team and combined it with our Need For Speed franchise," he said, speaking on EA's efforts to reboot the lagging racing franchise. "So we now have that in our favor because that Burnout team is probably one of the more online-centric and notably high-quality game developers that we have out at Criterion..."

The Criterion studio is focused on Battlefield and there are no short-term plans for a new title.
Fans: Need for Speed Underground 1 + 2 Remake
EA: Why no one buy our live service games???
Oh ea... Your ability to destroy everything you touch will never cease to amaze me. I guess Madden is still going but only because the people that play it are not very intelligent. That, or they're masochists that love getting screwed.
What Ea need to do remake PS1 Highstakes or PS2 Hotpursuit 2 or Underground 1 with Cop's

Players who want a similar experience to the Need for Speed games should check out the following racing titles.
Only game I've seen remotely come CLOSE to NFS Underground is JUICE 2 Hot Import Nights PS3
Customization upgrades.

"Need for Speed has always been too ahead of its time." An in-depth development team interview, covering 30 years of NfS.
Out of 30 years Ea Canada made all PS1 versions they were New and Exciting then Blackbox Studio took over all were Fantastic.
Criterion Games took over Every last title is and was Junk including Unbound.
Cool, has a lot of potential to be one fun racer!
Finally a good decision from EA in years. I'm pretty sure that they will make an awesome Need For Speed title with arcade elements (like Most Wanted). And maybe they'll add collision in the game (which is something they're so experienced because of Burnout games).
Interesting to see how this will turnout I think the next one will be arcade but I think they need to stick to either arcade or sim and stop going back and forth
yeah, great! criterion = win!
