· Enhanced family settings features for Xbox LIVE communications enable different defaults for video chat and voice chat.

· A new Xbox LIVE Marketplace blade lets Xbox LIVE members access the content they seek - whether it is game content or TV shows and movies (available in the United States) - from one place on Xbox LIVE.

· Updates to Xbox LIVE Arcade allow owners to quickly see which Xbox LIVE Arcade games their friends are playing and join in the fun. Xbox LIVE members can also compare progress of leaderboard scores and Achievements directly with all friends on their friends list. Expanded Tell a Friend capabilities make it easier than ever to boast about Achievements and high scores.

· A new option in Auto Downloads provides faster access to the entire collection of free, trial-version Xbox LIVE Arcade games.

· New progressive download controls provide easy access to optimal viewing options by letting people fast-forward, rewind, pause and resume as their video is downloaded from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

· Extension of the background download functionality will allow owners to set their Xbox 360 console to turn off automatically after downloads are complete.

I mean is this it? Is this now officially all live is? They have reached as far as they are going to go with minor improvements from here on out.

Home looks 100% better to and is 100% more free..

Cool you got msn chat, i guess? What happend to your "gaming" console?

I wouldn't say this update is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but those are some pretty nice upgrades to what already is a very good service. As far as Home goes.....its not out YET, so we don't know if it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I'm sure it will improve PSN; how much I don't know??? but I have a PS3 now and I can tell you the difference between what M$ offers and Sony's online service is huge....I've heard some say that XBL doesn't offer that much more than PSN but honestly if you actually use them both play games and spend some time navigating through the content on them both really there's no question that XBL is far superior to PSN but I give Sony credit because PSN is not "bad" at all, especially considering that XBL has been around alot longer, in my opinion XBL is just more dynamic, user friendly, and has alot of great content.

So what does Home do?

Gives you a graphic gimmick, like Second Life meet Sims. It's a game on it's own.

But it's not a system that will boost the online integration in the games you buy. Which a premium online service should be.

So. No. Home doesn't give you for free what you'll get with XBL. Home gives you some kind of Second Life game, but it's not having the games as a central point. Its a gimmick made by Sony to coverup the problems of their 'free' network

In case you didn't know, you don't have to have a Gold subscription to get these updates or access any of the content on Live. So technically, it's free as well. If you're referring to the ability to play online for free...then yes, that's a nice bonus for PSN.

"I mean is this it? Is this now officially all live is? They have reached as far as they are going to go with minor improvements from here on out."

I don't think it's fair to assume that MS is done updating Live. Home is not out yet either. Why do you automatically assume that MS will never upgrade Live? I'm sure MS and Sony have lots of fun surprises planned for their networks.

Stop making everything into a competition ladies. That's for Sony and Microsoft to fight out.

not really the ground breaking update they claimed it would be a few weeks ago but is nice none the less. I'm not sure what sony fans will have to suck bladestar for as I just said this update has nothing that'll blow any skirts up.

I like the one update for turning you console off after downloads. I always download a bunch at a time and mostly go to work or do some errands. So having it turn off auto will be nice. Hopefully the ability to change that setting is rather quick and easy beacause sometimes I won't want it to turn off auto... maybe that'll be for the next update.... slow and steady is nice but sometimes annoying

BIGBAER6958d ago (Edited 6958d ago )

This is a very good update that offers improvements of certain features and introductions of others.

The forthcoming MSN integration is a big thing. Just wait and see how much this will enhance Xbox Live's already excellent communication (text & voice chat) feature.

The improved Marketplace interface raises the bar as well. So does the download/auto shut-off feature.

Nice going MS, congrats!

Vfor56958d ago

but who uses MSN messanger? isn't AIM the big cat?

RAM MAGNUMS6958d ago

lol. PS3 can totally suck on these continuous updates. Everyday I am saying WOW. Thats really cool. PS3 not so much...

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
