World considering the XBox 360 only sold 4.5 million in the u.s and if you count the u.s and not the 10.4 million around the world. you would see what I'm talking about and plus thats not even far off for the PS3 to catche up.

heres the thing, sony might be able to sell 4 mil(i think they are like 4mil behind) to tie with the 360(at least in the US), but the 360 still hasn't even released mass effect, halo 3, and bioshock. Now granted the PS3 will have some great games(I'm still unsure about killzone 2). But the PS3 might not really see success(at least in the US) for a year or two.

Now i figure that most of you are pretty console savvy, but lets think of the average consumer if we think about #s sold. By now, the 360 appears to be the best one out there, and because it has more games out. That one year really helped them, much like it did with the PS2. Having said that, they wont see the same success.

But with Halo 3, Mass Effect on the horizon, i just don't see the PS3 catching up, intitailly at least.

I dont buy stuff cause everyone else buys it. I buy stuff that proves its worth my cash. I dont care whos sells more honestly the majority of americans voted for Bush but he is definately not the greatest president in fact i bet he has velcro shoes hes so retarded. Anyway my point is sales mean nothing since the the terms like "ignorant masses" and "the great unwashed" exist for a reason. the majority of people on this planet are a waste of skin and i sure as hell wont let their feable minds influence my buying habits. in the end quality and fun reigns for me. I am getting a PS3 as well since i believe it is quality hardware as well but dissing 360 or PS3 based on units sold is ridiculous.

sales shouldnt matter really, big flops in history like the dream cast and the game cube had the most patethic sales in gaming history that doesnt mean there wasnt people that didnt enjoy this system.

bottom line sales dont make a system more fun, though it does guarantess lots of hot exclusive games.

i agree that sales usually don't matter, it just seems that many people brag about consoles about sales. While that can be one important factor, its not the whole picture. But sales in some ways matter. Ex. Eidos(regardless if you like them or not) held back their games, because they didn't have a big enough fanbase, and that could be a reason the PS3 lost DMC4. Since developers want to make money, sales can be an important factor for them.

Squeenix and Konami will wait to see how DMC4 does on te 360, then will decide, "Are we loosing money by not going multi platform?", Only after DM4 sells millions.
We will see a Final fantasy on the 360, I don't care if it's not 13 but one on here is still good news for the 360 fans. I've already seem MG on the Xbox, I'm not worried about one of those coming to MS.

I for one would rather play a new game that version 4 or 5 of the same old game as last time with just slightly better graphics. I also have had a 360 since DAY ONE and no problems-- no one I know has had problems either. Not saying people haven't, of course, but in my experience.... also, I work at Gamestop-- and we've seen some PS3's that have gone bad, as well. One person was told by SONY to bring it back to us, we called, they said to tell them to send it to them, customer called them right after from their cell phone, still standing in the store, and they told him to see if we would replace it-- which we couldn't, as Sony told our company that all returns in the first year had to go through them. WHAT? Also, if you decided you needed wireless, a HD DVD drive, etc., a 360 would cost about the same as a PS3. I'll give you that. But what if you don't have a HD TV, and therefore would never HD movies, or if your house isn't wireless, and so you would never need that feature? PS3 makes some people pay for things they don't want or need. Price does matter, and is in my opinion why the Wii is kicking the 360 and PS3's @$$ still...

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
