GameZone writes: "Demon's Souls is an intriguing concept that is slated for release in the fall. While most of the game is ready now, some minor localization is still needed to prepare it for a North American release.
This is definitely a game that players should watch for, but – as previously mentioned – this is not a game for the casual RPGer".

Sammy: "Sony disastrously and disgracefully shuttered Texas-based fan favourite Bluepoint yesterday. The long-time PS Studios partner never got a chance to ship a game under its new parent company.
This news hit me particularly hard because I believe it reflects the erosion of once-great PlayStation management that I think we’ve all been feeling for quite some time."
How was this allowed to happen? A studio know for excellent remakes and remasters were put on a GOW live service game? Something nobody wanted? There are so many other, more interesting projects, for me they were the prime studio who should have remastered or remade Bloodborne, what an absolute waste, I'm really annoyed about this.
Hulst should have followed Jim Ryan out the door, especially after his failed concord brainchild, execs really do only fail upwards.
It does concern me that they think closing amazing studios like Bluepoint and Japan Studios is smart.
I'm honestly surprised Media Molecule is still around. They put out what 1 game in the past 10+ years? I personally wasn't interested in Dreams, so they have been a wash for me since the PS3 era. Are they working on a new game? What are they doing?
Frustrating news, for sure. Hulst is on a major losing streak. Baffling decisions....
They could of let them do a Remakes of Sly, Jak and Daxter maybe the old Killzone games. Ported Demon Souls to other platforms. Steady revenue for growth becoming a 70 team to 100+ eventually.
As a PS Fan and someone that looks to new exsperiences not rehashing old ones I can feel for the devs but it does not move the needle as far as getting new video games.

Sony Group Corp. is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation subsidiary responsible for developing remakes of video games such as Demon’s Souls.
Roughly 70 employees will lose their jobs amid the studio closure, a PlayStation spokesperson said, writing in a statement that the decision was made “following a recent business review.” Bluepoint will officially shutter next month.
Go f*** yourself Sony
Your stupid management are the ones who made them waste years on a God of War live service title only to cancel it.
This is insane, they’ve really screwed up here, what the actual f*** man.
This really sucks they couldve did Socom remaster or live service instead of milking gow to get shut down this sucks a good studio.

Soulslikes are punishingly difficult but amongst the most compelling games. Power Up Gaming goes through the top ten Soulslikes you're likely not playing.
Demon's Souls isn't Soulslike. It's the original Souls game. WTF? And Elden Ring?
Another Crab's Treasure simply is not.
All the journos claiming things are "Soulslike" simply don't know what that word means.
Nioh 1+2 imo are the best souls clone. Love the melee combat and ki system, really hoping team ninja doesn't abandon the IP and continue with a new title, hell just give us your take on the western fantasy setting for a new nioh game.
PS3 needs some RPGs.
This one looks like a killer.
I wonder if they will handle the online campaign component like Fable. Hopefully, it is not too hard. I'm not as hardcore anymore. : (
the article is wrong because it was not made by atlus but being published here by atlus.
Thanks for bringing it over atlus but do not give them the credit for making it cmon.
"Bless Atlus USA for not only publishing quality PS2 games, but when given the chance to create a unique role-playing experience for the PS3, the company brings innovation into the fold."
"If you die, you lose everything and have to go back, kill the monsters and enemies responsible for your demise and then reclaim your gear. If you have played Diablo, you know this very well. You don’t have much to go back with, which makes the fight all the harder."
This is not true. You only lose the souls that you had, you don't lose any of your items, equipment, gear or whatever. It is no more difficult to get to the location of your death and reclaim your souls than it was to get there the first time. If you rely on arrows, and you've shot them all and can't make it to your bloodstain, you can just go back to the nexus and buy some and return to the world you'd died in and go fight your way to the bloodstain. The bloodstain never leaves until you reclaim it or die again, so no worries there. Again, you do NOT lose your gear when you die, you don't have to fight bear-handed as they imply, the only thing that you lose is your collection of souls, which are basically the game's currency, used to purchase new equipment, items, magics, and stat increases.
Also, they preview says "The game does have an offline mode." This is only partially true. There is in fact no way to choose to play offline, other than to disable your network connection from the XMB. If you're connected to your PSN account online, then you have to play Demon's Souls online, so there is not an offline mode, per se. But if you're not online, you can still play the game without any of the online bells and whistles.
Other than those flaws in their write-up, it's a good preview that paints a good picture for why gamers should have their eye on this game.
It's my favorite game in years.
