It's no secret that Blizzard is making crazy amounts of money from World of Warcraft. The blend of difficult high end dungeons and PvP with accesible quests that allow for casual consumption has sucked in millions of players. Michael Morhaime, the president of Blizzard, probably spends his vacation days swimming in a pool of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck.
A lot has happened in gaming, especially free-to-play gaming, over the last decade. Nobody could predict just how prevalent it’s become, and how some of the biggest games on the planet – League of Legends, Fortnite: Battle Royale, World of Tanks, and more – are all free-to-play.
