IGN: Super Mario Bros. Wii Uncovered?

IGN writeS: "Earlier this evening, we here at IGN posted some photos giving you an early glance at Nintendo's booth displays for E3 2009. Several games and kiosks are viewable in the images, including large displays for Sin & Punishment 2, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. What may be most interesting, though, is what you can't quite see."

If it's a classic type Mario game, it would be hard for me not to buy a Wii again (sold it after a year) I love the 2d side scrolling Mario games, the New Super Mario bros on Ds is one of my faves now.

Funny really after microsoft's conference I said nintendo's answer was probably going to be something faddy like a new mario game bundled with some controller add on.

Or wait, maybe they'll announce another silly little gimmick which further more proves just how low our society has reached.

...Microsoft will apparently release more Halo-related games, and Sony could possibly announce another Ratchet & Clank title. Prepare to be blown away by the impending unveiling of these games. :o

I'm not in the least bit excited about this

"Sick of mario bros
I'm not in the least bit excited about this "

I am, especially if its 2D. How long since one has been on a console..? Snes?

(and not super paper mario..as it had 3d and rpg elements)

TheExecutive6203d ago

If it is a 2-D mario how can you not be excited?

locos856203d ago

2D Mario........ can it get any better. I wonder what new power ups we will see.

colonel1796203d ago

I would like a Super Mario World/Super Mario Boros 3 style 2-D Mario with the graphics from Wario Wii (I don't know how it is called)

N4g_null6203d ago

colonel179 it has parts of those worlds also.

Why the Wii is Such a Nostalgic System in 2026

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree34d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai34d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (1996) Still Feels Like Peak 90s Star Wars

This game along with Rogue Squadron got me into to Star Wars. The release of special edition VHS Star Wars collection was perfectly times on top of all that. 😆

Redgrave64d ago

Because it is.

Please re-release this.

SimpleSlave64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

But it wasn't. Although I do agree that some of the tie-in media, like the novels and comics, were pretty good.

Still, games like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, and the space sims were peak 90s Star Wars. Shadows fell flat because of the abysmal controls and unimaginative levels. And if you wanted to really experience the seedy side of the universe, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was peak, and it wasn't even close.

Regardless, and much to my dismay, we got the better version thanks to Ubislop in Outlaws, which is what Shadows should've been, albeit at a smaller scale.

As a kid me and my cousins loved this game . I have great memories with this one and the Star Wars pod racer game .
