EndSights: Grading Microsoft's E3 Press Conference

EndSights:

"Microsoft's E3 Press Conference this year was an absolute success. From the moment the show started, we were being bombarded with major announcements, new trailers, and fantastic gameplay demos one after the other. We were treated with a live Modern Warfare 2 demo, Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 gameplay, the announcement and demo of Shadow Complex (Epic's new XBLA title), trailers of both Crackdown 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, some Forza 3 footage, a Halo: ODST demo, and much more."

Yeah, last year was a C performance for me but I gotta say this one is in the A range. They showed new games, new features and new tech so I was happy with what I saw.

Excited to see what Sony has tomorrow!!!

PLAYSTATIONGENRATION6200d ago

i wanted new ips ..yet they dont not really have a first party....and i wanted a game from rare

GiantEnemyCrab6200d ago

I agree MS does need to expand greatly into new IP's but Alan Wake, even though we've known about it for a long time looks very promising as one.

Crackdown 2 was another that really didn't expect to hear about.

MS didn't even touch on games like Mass Effect 2 so there is more coming than just what was talked about on stage.

I was really surprised to not see RARE there. However there is still TGS and X09 so they might be saving a few things still. Plus there is still a whole week at E3 and some more news could come. MS seems to like to drop a little something right before Sony's presser so who knows.

@Giant

On G4's website, Microsoft is apparently going to announce another game tomorrow at 2.

menoyou6200d ago

Your opinion on Microsoft's conference is not news. Mark as lame.

I'd say a B+ or A-
It was missing only one big thing, new games, and by that i mean MANY new games. We new about most of what they announced with Splinter Cell being Exclusive leading the "Well I didn't know that." fact sheet.

Their score is so high for all the thing mentioned that are still fresh in my mind. A clean looking integration with Twitter and Facebook, using the motion sensor for trying on clothes, full body use games and interacting with a realistic digital boy and a big one for me personally: sharing media with friends by enjoying it together. Sony wanted to do it in Home, it was one of Homes selling points but for whatever reason they were unable to implement it and now M$ has the idea for their showcase.

It kept making me think, "Sony will never catch up to Live now, they'll have to announce something crazy to top that". Which is a good thing for M$.

Games are a big part of a gaming console and M$ showed some good reasons why they're still in the game but they definitely deterred from the gaming aspect with all their new social networking and casual features.

They had a great show, they could've had more exclusive games.

I did not murder him6200d ago (Edited 6200d ago )

So which is it, are the hardcore the problem or the casuals?

WOW one day its Xbox/MS offerings are too hardcore and not causal enough and the next day too casual and not hardcore enough.

you know it's sick that so many ps3 gamers harbor so much hate for 360 gamers cause of "MGSR".

i just checked all the people who were in this thread ( http://www.n4g.com/events_e... ) and shunned this announcement as a g@y multiplat MGS spinoff, after spending hrs in these N4G threads trying to crack kojima's "davinci code". this also goes double for those who were expelling the thought of 360 getting a version (even when the 3 f#cking numbers were there for all to see http://i44.tinypic.com/30ug... )

and it looks like more ps3 gamers complain or seem to talk more about lost ps3 exclusives than 360 gamers over 360 games, cause i don't think i could recall any of 360 gamers making such a f#cking issue of it in the past.

yep there are more ps3 fanboys complaining than 360 gamers, that's real proof right there.

Eiffel6200d ago (Edited 6200d ago )

That is a lot of source buutthurt. I have to agree even though I don't get that involved with the flame wars the PS3 fanboys get way over the top and are just annoying to make contact with. Honestly they're not helping their prone to only console gain anything with their constant flame BS.

One reason I'm having second thoughts on purchasing a PS3. Rather not come into contact with these people online...that's for sure. Same can be said for 360 which in past I've run into a few fanboys..just don't want to relive that annoying experience again.

Da playstation brand has been in dis industry longer den da xbox, therefore it has more gaming franchises dat were established on it. Deys ppl feel alot strongly about them, such as MGS, DMC, Tekken are examples of franchises established on da Playstation brand. But da industry has changed and we cant blame deys developers for wanting 2 expand deyre games 2 other console markets.

theEnemy6200d ago

I'll give it an 8.5/10 for that alone.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde32d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
