The Low Down On Microsoft's 10 Big Games

Gaming Union writes "Microsoft went all out at their conference earlier today, as they gave details about ten games that will be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360.

Instead of talking about multi-platform titles like last year, Microsoft spent the majority of the time talking about titles that nobody else have. Many people were scepital about Microsoft's line-up for this year, and this article hopes to take a look at all the new titles, while revealing a bit more information about some that we already knew about."

G4 asked Microsoft about 1st party games and Microsoft said they have not even finished announcing games for this year, this was after the conference.

mephman6203d ago

I can see them announcing a few more XBLA games, but not anything major.

TheHater6203d ago

or perhaps Mass Effect 2 this year? I know it has a release date for early next year, but who knows. It might release this year.

mephman6203d ago

That's not 1st party though, although it's pretty much confirmed as an Xbox 360 exclusive.

TheHater6203d ago

True it isn't a first Party game. But neither is MGS and Splinter Cell. As for Mass Effect being an xbox 360 exclusives, it isn't. It is a console exclusive, but you can find it on the PC as well.

They had some nice games but nothing impressive at all. The amazing thing for me was Natal. Now that was a show stopper.

FreeMonk6203d ago

on these Top 10 games are (if anyone cares!):

Metal Gear Solid: Rising - Not a lot of info, but just getting a MGS on the X360 is great for the fans. It's a shame that MGS4 wasn't also announced, but with this being a completly new title, that will be outside of the original MGS storyline, Kojima probably thinks that there is no need for X360 players to play MGS4 to enjoy MGS:Rising.

Alan Wake: Very impressive. Reminded me of Silent Hill meets Uncharted. I love the way that Alan Wake narrates throughout the game, similar to the Prince in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which helped pull the gamer in to the storyline.

Forza 3: I'm not a big fan of racing games, but it looks impressive. Just the amount of detail throwing into this game should make it a must have for any driving fanatic.

Crackdown 2: Loved the first one for just the sheer fun factor, and as long as this offers the same sort of gameplay as the first, I'll be happy. But wait...they are throwing MONSTERS in as well. Sweet.

Halo 3: ODST - Looks great, and I like the idea of playing multiple characters. I just hope that the original announcement of it only being 5hrs of gameplay is wrong, and it gets extended due to the number of ODST's you'll play though.

Halo: Reach - Another teaser trailer, but it's obviously based on the book, which is a prequal to it all. So I'm expecting a battlefield of Spartans you can control. Is it a FPS? Not sure, but it's Halo...so I'm sure it will sell bucket loads.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Zombies, Gore, Chainsaws, Frying Pans. Looks great! Can't wait

Splinter Cell - I've never played ANY of the Splinter Cell games. Never got around to them, but this trailer looks superb. Very stylish, looks great...hopefully it plays great.

Joy Ride - It's free....but it looks like crap. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Shadow Complex - Looks great for a XBLA game. Was hoping for something a little more though when Cliffy B came on the stage. Not a Gears 3, but a new IP altogether.

For me though, the show stealer was the Milo Demo. If that camera actually does what it is apparently supposed to do, it could lead to some amazing games. For me, that was better than the Halo ODST gameplay footage, and I'm a big Halo fan.

No Rare though, which is a little weird. Where was KI3? Kameo 2? Perfect Dark? Something is not right there.

Overall though, a great conference. A lot better than last years, but I still think at the moment Sony have the upperhand. Unless they completly screw there conference up, Sony may have a better line up that MS.

KillaManiac6203d ago

I think Microsoft had a great show overall, but this article is trash and mesinformative.

They NEVER said 10 games were exclusive....go rewatch the conference...it says "World Premier" on the screen and he says "10 World Premier games that have never before been seen".

Megatron086202d ago

We still havent heard anything from rare who is said to have 3 games in the works or mistwalker.

edgeofblade6202d ago

I've seen plenty of Arcade games that play like a big title. I've learned not to count out XBLA. I played Catan more than some of my disks.

Crackdown 2. I fricken love the original Crackdown and it is currently my second favorite Xbox 360 in terms of console exclusive.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is also coming on the PC and PS3, so that isn't xbox 360 exclusive by any means.

I might get Halo: ODST if I see something that interest me in that game. I just feel like they are kinda milking the Halo franchise a little not.

somekyle6203d ago

Man, can't believe an MGS is PS exclusive!

jalen2476203d ago

They don't have anything else to announce. They saved it for e3. All their studio's projects are accounted for except rare. So maybe RARE has something ready but I doubt it. I think they have september and october covered and they will lean on multiplats in novemeber (cod:mw2 and assasin's creed). So nothing else will come this year.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Tedakin286d ago

I mean Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox in 2 weeks. It has a Playstation Studios logo on it. The first pillar has fallen.

lukasmain286d ago

LOL you think a live service game is a Playstation pillar? hahahahahaha

1Victor284d ago

The first pillar has fallen.
🤦🏿 Well the competitor’s house already got 2/3 pillars down and the 3rd one is rotted to the core about to fall any minute now bringing down the glass house of cards down FOREVER 🤣
THE WAR IS OVER DEAL WITH IT

Reaper22_284d ago

It doesnt matter. You can get playstation stuff on PC. That pillar fell a long time ago. And next gen it will continue to fall.

Tedakin285d ago (Edited 285d ago )

@lukasmain Their one successful live service game, and their most successful game in the last few years. Yeah I do.

lukasmain285d ago (Edited 285d ago )

It's not a pillar. Expect ALL live serviice games to come over. That includes that upcoming Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls as well at some point. But the PILLARS are the amazing single player games. The games they built their brand on. Helldivers LAUNCHED on PC. It's not a Playstation Pillar
