I don't mind digital downloads so it's all good in my eyes!

I wish there was a way to at least play the old UMD games, either as an external attachable device, but then again this device isn't intended to be a replacement for the PSP.

I don't really understand this UMD-less feature. I guess all will be revealed on Tuesday (tuesday, right?)

TrooGamer6194d ago

Simple,

Devs will make more money so that means more games.

Delive6194d ago

Games will be made on both UMD for the PSP 3000 and below. They will also be available as DD. Both systems can play DD games, and I believe this is where the market is going. This will benefit Developers because you cannot trade in a DD game to Gamestop, wiping out the used game market for this media. This will also impact the consumer who does not have the money to shell out top dollar and the used games for cheaper is a great option. The biggest hurdle will be for people hwo want to play the games that will only be on UMD, but want the added features of the PSP Go. Unless they plan on making all software available for DD. Now, how will this impact piracy? Any thoughts?

why people need to own hard copies of things
i mean if you have an account its pretty much more solid then a hard copy

you can never loose that thing, its literally impossible unless some government agency decides to blow up the servers.

not to mention a production cost which will ultimately make the system better even if the price cut isn't pass down to the customer

digital copies are so much more practical doesn't make any sense not to like this sort of "forcing out" of the hard copy disk era

I am one of those people. And while I am not averse to a digital only PSP, I'll definitely upgrade to a 3000 vs. a Go (have a 2000 atm) because I do not want my UMD collection to go to waste.

I've said it before, but I hope that Sony provides a solution for UMD transfers, as I'm certain that I'm not the only person looking to upgrade from an older model PSP to a PSP Go.

A couple of reasons why people prefer hard copies.

1) you can swap games with friends. Not sure how that would work with digital downloads

2) you can sell your game used if you've finished it and no longer want it

3) you can purchase used games cheaper than new retail.

I just hope the PSP Go doesn't split the community. I feel they should have remained with the PSP 3000 and just worked on a UMD-less dual stick PSP 2 with higher h/w specs. That way the device would target both new and existing PSP owners. I'm sure alot of existing PSP owners may be reluctant to get a PSP Go unless there's a clear way for them to play their existing UMD games on it via a digital copy or something.

The PSP Go! is for those who are..? on the Go!
If you like playing long-duration games, in physical form, and are a bit more of a hard-core serious gamer, then go buy a 3000.

Say for e.g. GT PSP is released, sure they will release a UMD version but the guy said it himself: "this PSP is for the gamer who just picks it up for 15 minutes, plays a few games and puts it back down again"

What I really want to know is the battery life of the Go! because I believe not all was told to us in that Qore Vid. Wait until E3 eh?

supersonicsaga6194d ago

Didn't he say dd is for developers who make games that are playing 15 minutes at a time. This is a video that is easier to hear than the first vid I watched.

Time and again Sony makes a product like the PSP,but. . . They forget.lots of people are not 'hardcore' enough to go through details. When the PSP 1st launched, people kept saying it plays videos, music, pictures and games.and thats the problem.the very simple and very out of date Nintendo DS comes along and says it plays games, and it has a touch screen.Wow. .touch screen, the whole world thinks its a huge tech leap foward with portable gaming.but it wasnt.Sony needs to do the right marketing.they did the same with the PS3.Lots of people adopted it for video cuz thats what they kept whoring out.with that all said.If they dropped the price of the PSP 3000,and focused on developing the PSP 2,They would sell even more psps and maybe even take the handheld market next time round.I dont think this new psp is a good idea.It doesnt make me wanna ditch my Psp 2000 and buy one.so their targeting a new audience, which means the DS only guys.problem is. . . .if they wanted a DS cuz it had the controls they wanted. .why would they buy the PSP GO anyway?

sniper-squeak6194d ago

...they don't drop the price of the PS3 but bundle the PSP in with every console too :)
