'Terrifying' enemies will be on-hand to liven up the combat side of things, while there will be far more characters to interact with and learn from than most action titles. Indeed, these hints of RPG aren't the only elements of the genre represented. There will also be puzzles to overcome, multiple outcomes and various relationships to forge and break. Alan Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the creatures of darkness - light itself."

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Remedy has announced a new Alan Wake book and more as part of their anniversary celebration.

Alan Wake, from Max Payne and Control creator Remedy, is a horror classic, prompting one player to buy 4,000 copies that don’t even work.
Kind of a goody story...
On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.
Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.
Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.
Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.
Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄
So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.
I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.
Something we already knew about, but it's good to read it once again.
One more day to wait and somebody digs up info months and even years old, throws it together and calls it a preview?
I think the point of the preview was
"Let's hope that time and the increasing quality of the competition doesn't serve to diminish the potency of Alan Wake's gameplay-mix"
Never hear this when certain other games take years to develop.
Isn't this more or less a Playstation blog?
This game intrigues me. Hopefully the games story will be as mysterious as its unveiling. People are inevitably compare this to Heavy Rain, or as I like to call it a series of cutscenes full of quicktime events adventure! The people in Alan Wake dont look like that lady from Ripleys Believe it or Not that can pop her eyes out. But we as gamers dont know the gameplay of Alan Wake, so it could be the same damn thing. Hopfully this game and Heavy Rain become more or less adventure games rather than movies in which I have to randomly press buttons instead of being able to eat popcorn.
wake than heavy rain. will wake will end up slapping heavy rain? i am ready for both games but i am leaning towards wake.
This sound like Alone in the Dark to me.Also games that take forever to develop usually don't do very well.Look at Duke Nukem Forever. I mean seriously does anyone even care anymore about this game?
