MyPS3: Sony at E3 Predictions

MyPS3 Writes:
Sony, like Microsoft, have been a timid player at E3 over the past few years. They haven't been spectacular, but they haven't been a letdown, either. As long as they don't do a Nintendo and promise the world but then only provide WiiMusic, being timid is OK at E3.

However, Sony have had a knack of making assumptions rather than promises. They've assumed, two years in a row, that it would be "the year of the PS3." The truth is, 2007 was the year of the 360 and 2008 didn't really belong to anyone.

Buy Sony have been pulling the punches as of late. Killzone 2 has hit the PS3 after a long awaited debut, and inFamous is garnishing critical acclaim as it hits shelves across the planet. There are plenty of other exclusive titles set to hit the PS3 in 2009 as well.

There's Heavy Rain that has PS3 fanboys drooling, as well as the intriguing yet tedious MGS and Snake teasing that have surfaced over the past few weeks. PSP GO has also hit the press as of late, so whatever is left of the PSP audience should be pleased by that.

As E3 09 approaches, what should we expect to see from the Sony camp? Are we going to hear the same cockiness that has plagued their conferences over the past few years? Or will we see confidence, backed up by GT5 and God of War III in-game footage?

i cant wait to see what games they announce

The General6221d ago (Edited 6221d ago )

The onslaught of AAA games make the PS3 the definite console of choice for 2009. DLC is okay and gives games a replay-ability but when its touted over full games, then its a issue. As a proud owner of the PS3, I have never had to brag about owning DLC and sales because I'm always busy bragging about the great games Sony keeps dishing out. And this is going to be another great E3 full of new Exclusives for the PS3 and new Multi-platform games for the 360.

For me the fact that PSP gets a Metal Gear Solid game this gen before the 360 just makes me laugh out loud at all those who wanted a port bad enough to make up lies about the PS3.

This E3 will be great for all consoles, but I definitely believe that no matter what happens, Sony owns the trophy this time.

menoyou6221d ago

This article is not news. Marked as lame.

Montreafart6221d ago

MGS4
LBP
Resistance 2
Valkyria Chronicles
Wipe Out HD

versus 1 game for the 360: gears of war 2 which they also had to wait a whole year for it while PS3 gamers have been gaming continuously.

Year of the [console] is not determined by sales (PS3 rocked at sales wise, outselling 360 year by year comparison). Sales do not matter to anyone else other than Sony and Microsoft.

Year of the [console] is determined by games. And PS3 had the best exclusive games last year in terms of quantity AND quality.

"1 MORE DAY!"
"1 MORE DAY!"
"1 MORE DAY!"

It kicks off in just "1 MORE DAY!"
I have a feeling this is going to be the best E3 we have seen this generation. I hope I am right.

Let's keep it clean Big 3 (Sony, MS and Nintendo)
"I am going to go with boxing rules but I have a feeling it will be more like the UFC between Sony and MS."
No hitting an opponent below the belt or behind the ear.
No hitting an opponent who is knocked down.
No holding an opponent with one hand and hitting with the other.
No holding or deliberately maintaining a clinch.
No wrestling, kicking or roughing tactics unless provoked by the opponent ;)
No pushing an opponent about the ring or into the ropes unless they stole another IP from you.
No hitting with the head, shoulder, elbow, or knee.
No hitting with an open glove, the butt or inside of the hand, or back of the glove.
No purposely falling to the canvas of the ring without being hit or for the purpose of avoiding a blow.
No striking deliberately at the part of the body over the kidneys.
No rabbit punches (punches thrown to the back of the head and neck areas).
No jabbing the eyes with the thumb of the glove.
No unsportsmanlike conduct causing injury to an opponent that does not meet the standard of a fair blows or abusive language.
No use of abusive language ( example Xbots or Sony Droids)
No intentionally spitting out the mouthpiece without taking a hard to the jaw.
No swinging at or hitting the opponent on or out of the ropes.
No biting or spitting. (This especially applies to you EA if Mike Tyson shows up to promote your FNR4)
No stepping on an opponent especially when he is down.
No leaving the neutral corner to spy on the competition.
No shouting or screaming from your corner at your opponent.
Keep it clean people and following referee’s instructions.

Edit: someone more creative then me feel free to take what I wrote and make it your own. I am trying to make light up what is going to be a rough couple weeks on N4G starting tomorrow. Keep it light guys and enjoy E3!

change the flamebate pic, anyway the article is full of crap

Thugbot1876221d ago

Definition Prediction - to declare or indicate in advance; especially: foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason.

Being that we know everything stated in the article I would say change the title of the article. And for Sony’s sake hopefully they haven’t already blown their load and will announce something cool we don’t know.

gambare6221d ago (Edited 6221d ago )

Did I said something about the "prediction"? no I didn't, just mention that the article was full of crap starting by the pic clearly chosen by some 360 fanboy.

gamesblow6221d ago (Edited 6221d ago )

These predictions are funny... Cos I know what will be shown - Well, all but a few things. So, even still Sony's got a few things that will even surprise me.

I'd also like to let everyone know who are upset about all these "leaks" These aren't accidental. Please understand that. Sony knows what they're doing. The PSP was and will never be Sony's main focus... Letting PSP-Go info slip wasn't a mistake. It was a calculated move to let everyone think all their cards have been played...

They haven't. Not by a long shot. Kojima is going to cripple a lot of people's E-3 this year and so will Sony with 4 projects that I know of that are simply ground breaking. We're not talking about just software either.

XxSolid SnakexX6221d ago

how do you what sony is going to show and unannounced titles they will be showing?

ultimolu6221d ago

Why the hell is this person using that grill picture? It's been overused and it's annoying.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle44d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy51d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga52d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199252d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga52d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman51d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box52d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion51d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7252d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7552d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit52d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14952d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7752d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
